That would be a good reason to give it more time...

To be fair we all knew Val was leaving soon as our season finished.

Its enough if you know exactly who you want them go and get him.
But, I know we don't work like that.

    Possibly could be contractual though.

We could have agreed with a manager but the other club have asked for time to arrange a replacement. A lot of contractual agreements will end next week with it being the 1st of June, along with 1st July soon too. Sometimes you have to box clever.

Or of course, we could just not have anybody decent apply, so the club are still looking…..

May as well do it right instead of hurrying things up just because fans are anxious.

He won't even be able to see what the players are about until pre season when they return from their holidays anyway.

Nareev said should be in by end of next week.

But we do work like that! That's exactly what we did with Stendel, Struber and Schopp. So the only time we haven't gone out and approached our first choice at the earliest opportunity has been Asbaghi and Ismael. Further proof it's not an exact science.

Bad choice. He was part of the issue that nearly caused Wigan to go out of business.

Their financial problems started well before Paul Cook, and well before the owners that took them into administration.

Despite the current Wigan squad registering the fourth lowest wage bill in the Championship, Sharpe, who also said “the Championship is not financially sustainable and can’t continue if the model is just having enough billionaire owners to keep funding it”, recently revealed that he and his family were having to inject “just under £1m per month to keep the club going”.

Perhaps but he was still part of the problem. No wonder he’s turned us down.

It's worth pointing out that Blackburn Rovers, who's board were probably aware long before the end of the season that they weren't going to extend Mowbray's contract, are still on the search for a new manager.

Mowbray said himself that he was off at the end of the season, just 4 days after Poya left us.

They've just extended their shortlist from 5 to 8 names.

Again, we've a couple of weeks before the start of pre-season so there's no mad rush to appoint someone. Wednesday don't go back in for pre-season until the week after us.

If it is Paul Cook I won't be listening to him much, he makes my throat feel sore, He sounds in pain when he speaks.

Paul Cook was announced as Chesterfield manager on February 10th. Since then their form has dropped massively. I would rather have Poya back than someone who took over a club two leagues below in a brilliant position and failed after dropping so much they nearly didn't make the play offs.

Yep I would probably rule Cook out at this point. Barnsley is a club low in morale and it's going to take more than a manager who has appeared edgy and prickley to alter that.

Irrespective of who is appointed, they will not be wanted by everyone. There'll always be some who'll find something to complain about. In all my time of supporting Barnsley, there's probably only Allan Clarke in 1978, Norman Hunter in 1980 &, possibly, Mel Machin in 1989 who didn't generate open hostility from some quarters. The next manager/head coach will be no different from the vast majority when they're announced.
The main names from outside the club currently being talked about (Duff, JFH, Cook) won't be greeted as a positive appointment by everyone.
