    This isn't a Barnsley away day but an away day nonetheless. 1986, it was my girlfriend's birthday and I somehow managed to convince her that a good way to spend it would be to take her to Wrexham for the evening to see Wales play Uruguay in a World Cup warm up friendly.
    At some point on the trip I accidentally mistook a works exit for the motorway exit I was looking for. Shot up an extremely short and bending exit ramp, skidded into a patch of gravel and missed a metal hopper by inches.
    Made it to Wrexham in one piece and she sat in the car with a book while I went into the game.
    I'm still not sure what came closest to killing me, the hopper or the girlfriend. :D

    Liverpool 1982, fog etc. Lived in Cambridge at the time so after I dropped my dad in Bolton on Dearne at about 11pm I still had a 2 hour drive and be in work at 8...

    Not sure if you know the full story mate lol

    Obviously the first part getting arrested for something Stevo did but then walked out of Holloway police station with no money on me ( mobile phones were something from tomorrow’s world)
    I managed to hitch a lift on a minibus back to Barnsley but they decided to stop off on route in Watford
    I stayed in the minibus whilst the others went drinking in the centre
    Next thing I know everyone is trying to get back onboard just as the police arrive
    I’m sure you can work out what happened next
    2 arrests for simply attending a football match
