I totally get it. Just half a good season as assistant at Villa, and far bigger Clubs than Blackpool will be sniffing.
I can't forgive the Blacky lashers for taking both Tommy the pole Cywka and Jacob Mellis off us, when we were relegated in 2014 lol. And neither of them saw out the full season there!.
Dunno what's hard for the reporter to understand. He will get more cash, be under less pressure and if Gerrard leaves he will be in pole position to be caretaker manager.
I always thought it was only us that lost our promising talent? I think this shows the limit of Blackpool’s potential right now. Difficult to achieve much more than last season, low budget, low pay, and the opportunity to work under Steven Gerrard and try and win a trophy/get Villa in to Europe. If successful he could end up at Liverpool in three years. He could even end up at England. Or he comes back as a manager at a higher level than where he was with Blackpool.
Blackpool have done very well to get where they are after years of boycotting. Big blow to them but a poor championship next season appointment the right man and no reason why they csnt stay up.... ill give them a bit of advice, dont go for clowns from poor leagues in europe.
blacky were a decent team 21/22 considering, and the coach obviously know he can't go any higher there even if they laid a pitch on the tower, so taking the next step by plying his trade learning how the prem is run, decent move for him with potential later on, so fair play to him, gerrard won't go unless sacked or offered liverpool job
Gerrard could be sacked though if they don't look like pushing fot top 7. I don't think he'll be given loads of time and I'm not convinced that his managerial capabilities are greater than say Smith's
On paper it seems a strange move but I do think he’s took Blackpool as far as he can. Realistically they’ll have their better players picked off & it’ll be hard to replicate what they achieved last season.
Wouldn't be surprised if Michael Duff is at or near the top of Mansford's list of replacements, so it could delay our process even further and/or even rob us of the candidate I for one would prefer from those currently definitely known to be part of our thinking.
Who never managed a team again. Because he didn't want to, he didn't like it. He liked working in football, liked coaching players, but didn't like managing. I would imagine the same is true for this bloke. Nothing to do with money, certainly won't offer better job prospects as has been suggested above, just a position that suits him better.
