Warnock been spoken to then officially and Ramsey is another person of internet things are hotting up
If Warnock and McCarthy HAVE been approached then this indicates a large shift change from those in charge, whether Khaled, the Board or both. It's pretty clear neither would have been considered by the old regime and it also suggests a nod to the wishes of the fanbase and an attempt to get them on board. I've never thought Mick would come. Other than maybe one comment he's almost always made it clear he wasn't interested. If they've spoken to Warnock twice it suggests he's not rejected the job spec they've presented out of hand. Encouraging signs that some of the unbending implementation of the youth only, coach who does nothing more than coach dictat may be softening round the edges.
I have no doubt that experience has its advantages. But for me, approaching someone like Warnock is worrying. It's not considering any long term plan beyond the current season. The likelihood is, Neil will be tasked with taking us back to the championship and nothing more. When he inevitably calls it time again next season, we're stuck in the same place as we are now. Of course, I'm only assuming Warnock won't want the job long term, but he is 73 and living in Cornwall after all. I hope, as you say, our public announcement that we've approached him is nothing more than trying to appease some fans who want us to shift in that direction, and we ultimately appoint someone who can be tasked with, not only regaining our Championship status, but establishing us as a permanent fixture in the top half of that league too. Michael Duff is still my favourite candidate.
Indicates to me that they at least acknowledge what the fans want. Whether it’s fiscally possible to get Warnock, I am not sure. Unless he’ll do it for free with a million quid promotion bonus. I’d suggest that we may be unable to match his ambition in the transfer market and for that reason it won’t go ahead by mutual consent.
Think I’d still be tempted to go for Colin , we need to ‘get down and get dirty’ to get back to the Championship as quickly as possible. He’s done it before , it would only be short term because of his age and we would hopefully be on the up next time we need to appoint a manager and in positive circumstances rather than having just sacked somebody .
I wonder if the previous boards refusal to acknowledge warnocks approach last season offering to help was their final nail in the coffin. I along with many think he would have given us a real fighting chance of survival. On the link regarding Ramsey. I can’t say I know who he is but a quick search and he’s no mug that’s for sure another interesting name
Warnock would shift a $hit load of STs. Personally think it would be the only appointment to unite the fans. Problem is, now it’s common knowledge, it could also do some damage if we now don’t land him
I’m glad they approached him and I’m glad he responded how he did. Hopefully shuts this down for good now, with the section of fans obsessed by it.
I did notice in the chronicles Twitter post that they stated we want a new manager sorted by the 13th June yet I’m sure they said in the press conference the other day they wanted it sorted by the 6th
Just messaged someone the same thing. Doug O'Kane could have caused the club a massive headache with that.
If we got Warnock it would surely be biggest managerial appointment we have had it ages......hope it happens!
Makes little sense this to me. Doesn't fulfil any of the criteria they stated were important in their press conferences and a very short-sighted appointment.
