My view on Colin

If he gets the job like anyother candidate I will get behind him and more importantly the team and club.
I remember Neil playing for us and he was an alright winger nothing special but decent enough.
My main thoughts about the man is his massive contribution to "The Battle of Bramhall Lane" where his actions that day against WBA left a bitter taste.I think nowadays if any manager reacted like he did that day would possably result in a life time ban.I must admit due to his actions I formed a dislike to him as a manager and somewhat of a dislike to him as a person.His constant blaming of everyone and everything after defeat made him somewhat of a joke figure.My dislike of him was fuelled even more when he publicly defended Chris Morgan after his assault on Iain Hume even making fun of the offence.
So while its possable he could take the team forward I don't think he is as popular as some on the BBS think.
He's not called Colin for no reason.

 

If he gets the job I’ll renew tomorrow, the last two head coaches have , again, been too passive - no passion not bothered if we win or lose - and guess what? that leads to us losing. What I liked about Val was he was a winner as well, I don’t care about being nice, the job is to win.

 

I think Warnock's popularity gone up because of the podcasts from the likes of underthecosh about him.

I'd like to see us against the world mentality built up and I think he's one that would do that. Remember back end of the last season in league one. It was built up and everyone was against us. the opposition, Ref, Sky , FA and the EFL.

There’s more cons than pros imo some you’ve listed some you haven’t .
Thing is he’s a serial winner and most clubs have taken him on that gamble then moved on fairly quickly in lots of cases .
I’m a bit sceptical of him coming here as he likes a certain type of player mainly at end of or near end if career .
Although he usually gets a tune out of them they don’t come cheap either in transfers or wages .
But more importantly the clubs structure is mikes away from a Warnock team and the boards not gonna spend to build almost a full team especially when they’ve stated the academy etc is our focal point .
He’d have to get a tune out of the youngsters which he may or may not do .
If he’s appointed obviously he gets my full backing 100% and hopefully my fears aren’t realised but I don’t think the board especially this new one will put all the eggs in one basket so keeping the faith .

 

During the game at Luton I was told the club had contacted Colin and I must admit after the second half performance it did seem a decent idea at the time.

I’m alright with the appointment but the assistant manager is key if he’s stepping down after a season. I’m not looking forward to Kevin Blackwells Red and White Army.

 

Good point that. I warmed to him after listening to the Off the Hook podcast he did with Jimmy Bullard.

 

We need a lift as a club, we need a big personality, we need a proper football man in charge, we need to change the perception of and increase attention on our club.

Warnock gives us all this, he will add season ticket sales, media coverage, additional TV games, sponsorship, contacts to bring in experienced players and quality loans.

In the background take advantage of this, enjoy the ride and prepare for the future.

 

IF they get him then the Board... need to be planning for a change next summer.

 

Exactly its a short term season long lift for the club which i for one would love to happen.

With Warnock finishing his career with a final promotion.

 

Its a no brainer for me, if we can get him then get him, his record for promotions is simply the best around & with our aim being a quick return to the championship then Colin has to be the best available to do the job, his experience & contacts within game are excellent plus no one knows how to work the officials better than him , he will not take any cr-p off the players & the owners & is just the kind of appointment our board need to send a message out to the fans that we mean business .

 

I remember watching warnock play for us, he's had a very good career as a manager. But he retired in his 70s and rightly so, he lives down on the south coast in his retirement.
If I remember correctly he hardly attended training sessions in his later years.
Do we really need a retired manager who's heart isn't really in the job???

 

Plus I dread the thought of Blackwell being anywhere our club
