Interesting that one of the other investors recommended Dane.

That’s positive news for me, shows that they’re not just silent investors but they actually do care about the club, at least in some respect.

It also further strengthens their commitment to the new board and goes a long way to putting to bed the worry that the nominee vote could return to Conway again in x number of years.

If Dane was their recommendation they’ll know first hand about his contract being allowed to expire and the Oulare/Dike signings. There’s no chance Conway ever gets another look in at Barnsley Football Club.

So Dane was recommended by the New York investors, who recommended Khaled?

    Thanks for sharing.

One thing I really don’t understand about Conway is that he has been quoted many, many times through various media outlets (he’s not exactly shy let’s be right) talking about how his clubs use data to get ahead of the game. However, on the two occasions he’s been the CEO he’s gone completely against that model. I just don’t understand it.

Power hungry ego maniac, who sees the money he can earn through 'consultancy'. Knows absolutely fk all about football, and most importantly doesn't give a $hit about the Clubs he's involved with. He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Club ownership.

Penny wise pound foolish. Khaled said they, the board (probably meant Conway and lee tbf) deemed the 2020/21 season a failure. No return on any players etc. So Conway went out on a limb and brought in players he thought could fill roles. On the cheap. Going totally against what the others were recommending.

In that case doesn't that back up the claims that he is no more than a puppet?

Cant remember the direct quote re himself as the season being a failure. I don't think he openly agreed. But may well have. Based on the loss of Mowatt for nothing. Others on here were present. Maybe Gally might have noted.
He certainly agreed with the strategy. And in knowledge of the coup probably listened to James and Nareev. (Bear in mind It was only Conway who chose players, as we now know, to suit himself)

No. it means he is the mouth of the owners.
It's no different to any other business. With people in such high positions.

If he states something is his opinion when it isn't I think that is extremely weak

Don't forget the strategy was to make money on sales. The sales part was a failure. I think we can all agree on that. Doesn't make him a puppet.

I read somewhere a couple of the players he brought in (Iseka/Oulare) had links to other companies PMG dealt with…….make of that what you will.

Not necessarily. If he's told by the owners that in order to be a success for the club a season must be financially viable, he could see the season as a failure in his own opinion, influenced by the ownership

Probably correct. It will have been money (for him) orientated no doubt. He clearly didn’t properly believe in the data model.

If he owned the miniscule shares that we are told he had (which is a small percentage of a £700k investment group) then if we sold a player for £5m and they took every penny out he'd probably only earn about £10,000 or something. none of it makes any sense
