When challenged on this very point, he suggested having considered things with hindsight, he'd changed his position. Indeed!

What they say in public and how they vote could be totally different, having seen him get this far they will be thinking they could do as good without the fook ups after all power is their thing. They`ll be a few back stabbers on that front bench.
Are you suggesting cronyism and nepotism in the tory ranks?!?!?!? As if such a thing could ever happen!!! ;-)
Noticeable that these are all from Cabinet Ministers, who would be expected to fall in line like this. In a secret ballot, where half of them fancy their chances of taking over, I wouldn't trust them to vote in line with him.
That's the thing. How "secret" s "secret"? If he loses (which I don't think he will) whichever Cabinet Member becomes leader will want to know who voted against "Blubbermouth" so they can give them a right good political kicking!
I believe the ballot is very much secret. Every person is given a printed piece of paper and two boxes that can be ticked. It's completely unlike voting in the commons where MP's walk through a lobby for aye or no and are watched by the whips. A proxy vote may have greater risk, but unless someone sees your paper, or you openly state your vote, it should be very much confidential with no way of knowing.
There are circa 160 mp's on "the payroll" who rely on Johnson for their posotions, so in theory, using the turkey's voting for christmas analogy, he needs just another 21 votes.
Yes, someone on BBC news earlier commented on this adding something along the lines of, many of those are untalented and not very good who wouldn’t otherwise get these positions. So they will almost certainly back him
In the background will be horse trading galore, not just Johnson, but also those looking to launch a leadership bid. I cant see Sunak, Truss, Javid or Zahawi voting for him, despite public statements to the contrary, given they have leadership ambitions themselves.
For some reason she's a Johnson ultra. And even in her own mind, she must realise she's neither going to win a leadership contest, or get a job under any other contender.
