The way I see we've dropped a massive b o llock naming candidates and the circumstances. Stating Mccarthy was offered the job makes even Warnock look like second best. Also saying we're talking to Warnock again early this week before naming a candidate doesn't say much for Hasselbaink or Duff. They both have jobs and could quite easily think they don't want to be third or fourth choice and tell us to do one. Then if Warnock turns it down we might be down to scraping the barrel with a fifth choice. Should have kept his trap shut for me.
tbf, the club can't win here. if they remain silent, they get grief for not being transparent. personally I would remain silent. I just see no benefit in going public with names, until they're confirmed. there will definitely be people who want to know the names in the hat, but will then start bairning if the name they want doesn't get the job.
It's yet another poor choice by El Ahmad to officially name those in the mix. It lacks professionalism and it lacks class. Of course as fans we want to know, and of course we'll court rumours and in the know posters for further information, but naming who you've spoken to, particularly when they are with another club is a bit poor really.
The media confirmed JFH and Duff talks. We only said we'd spoken to Mick McCarthy, not that we'd offered him the job, and he wasn't interested in discussing it further. We've said the same about Warnock, that we've enquired. No manager/head coach thinks they're the only ones being interviewed for a job. I would have probably been quieter about things, but if we'd have been silent after journalists were confirming approaches and talks we'd have got far more grief. See Jack Ross. See Terry Butcher. See Poya the first time around. Everyone knows there's a process, but ours needs resolving this week otherwise it will look like we've not got our house in order quick enough.
I'm uncomfortable for those concerned on the list. To be named. As a fan annoying but understandable if I felt it would be an step in the right direction for them. But like us. the clubs they are presently at, allow clubs to speak to them. Bit annoying for the clubs concerned as they need to get looking for a replacement if necessary. I also want our club to get it as right as is possible. (knowing that no manager. whoever they are, can guarantee success) The questionnaire at the time. I thought wtf. But thinking about it logically. It would I assume contain can you work within the spreadsheet, with input of course. If not, no damage done to either party. At least you know what the club are looking at. And if you don't fit the bill either way, would close that avenue. I'll also add The clamour for information, that is way above what is deemed appropriate at times on this site is unbelievable. Some issues are in the making and I wouldn't expect disclosure until a decision is reached. A poster on here. Had such close connections to someone in the know at the club. That he practically betrayed the trust of that person in my view. And put whoever it was in jeopardy. I wonder if he was given permission to post what was said on the BBS. All of the above imo re information leave a bad taste.
I see the "appointment day" has been pushed back again then. Neerav said today the 6th at the fans meeting. Khaled said by the 13th.. next Monday. Now Doug Okane saying by the 20th.. Must be someone who's on their holidays.. And non of the top 3 bookies names
Like I said last week over the years clubs including Barnsley have had there short lists published. It's no different to Charlton being linked with Garner Blacpool with Duff and others etc.I don't see it as an issue but I don't go out of my way to trash everything linked with BFC.
Only if you are waiting for a deal elsewhere or a better deal from your current club. But didn't Khaled say he wants someone who really wants to come here. So any hesitation is not going to look good.
They didn't offer the job to anyone yet and certainly not McCarthy. Neither have they offered the job to Warnock. They are in talks and that's all. Who gets an initial response for an interview and says I've got the job. It's the same here.
