Quick reminder that the railways have this date earmarked for strike action. May be little to no rail service between Barnsley and Worksop that day.:(

It is a fun idea. Annoyingly though, whilst I do like it, it’ll probably be the first time since I was knee high that I won’t be going to the Open Day. I was hoping this wasn’t instead of but I’m certain it is. I was excited at the thought of the BBQ but then when I saw it was ticket only (I understand why for catering reasons and I wasn’t expecting the food to be free) I knew I wouldn’t be attending. I know the ticket is free but it makes it seem more formal and I think it’d be weird to get a ticket and go along and get free food and then not go to the match. I don’t think there’s any interviews or things going on from reading that so it really would just be scoffing free food and then going home which is hella cheeky, especially as I don’t have a ST this year. The Open Day is more of a rock up when you feel like it, wander about casual affair with rides and activities that draws parents with kids, I’m not sure you’ll get casual fans/people just looking for something to do to drop in on this in the same way. It’s a different vibe but I’ll give props to whoever thought of it.

Edit: thanks for your reply about Open Day Hooky, that’s made my day!

Open Day is the 16th July including free entry to the game. Opponents to be announced I believe. I'm half guessing it would be present day team v veterans as has happened before.
    Edit
sorry. I see you were responding to higgy.

We're hoping to have Premier League opposition on Open Day. Events before the game, hopefully catering for a wide range of fans. Once the opponent is locked in I'm sure we'll be able to release an article outlining plans.

The BBQ pre-Worksop is a separate event. Along with the weekly ground tours. I believe the aim is to have the FanZone set up, the East concourse, some special guests etc. Bit of fun, free grub and hopefully some good weather and a nice trip to Worksop as we get preparations underway for the new season. Might even have a head coach and a few new players in by then? You never know!

Be more Forest fans in Oakwell than ours. They will sell out the away end. Close journey, on a high, nice July day etc.

Of course that's if it is them.

Despite the criticism levelled at Khaled (a lot of it is justified, it must be said), there's some great ideas that have come out of the club this summer. This, the open day/friendly, shoot for your seat, fans/legends tournament, they're all little steps which are slowly getting fans back on side. I'm looking forward to my tour of the stadium this weekend too!

Missed out on this sort of thing being done for glamour pre season away games like Nice haven't we :D It's a good idea that will boost the number who travel to watch us there, which will help out the home team with extra revenue as I am sure people who were not bothered about going to the game now will with the offer of complimentary food and coaches put on for a tenner. It's a shame you've to book in advance your digital ticket but I understand why.

Couldn't care less about Glamour pre season games. I just want to see them play at different grounds if possible. Harrogate and Worksops great.
