    Wasn’t even a name mentioned until the annual managerial debacle. Now we seem to be struggling yet again in attracting anyone of note people go back to previous coaches.

    I love Stendel. If we can't get Duff or Warnock then 100% bring him back. My only fear is that the side isn't as good now as the one he had last time and he might not storm it like last time.

    Very different situation though. Jones left for a ‘bigger’ job at Stoke, whereas Stendel was sacked.

    Eh? We played probably the best football I've seen from a Barnsley side under him. They were all fit as fiddles, we ran teams ragged. Val got results but the football wasn't the best at times.

    No thanks.
    Was way out of his depth when the going got tough in the Championship. Struggled at Hearts, & just more recently struggled at Nancy in France.

    Going back just reeks of desperation.

    It was ***** football. We got so much luck it wasn't funny. Every team missed 2/3 chances a game under us in l1.
    1 mistake from him and I would turn on him and the club for sure.

    Wasn't there a bit more to it than that though? He wasn't just sacked cos he was rubbish. He had the spine of his team ripped from under him and asked for experienced replacements which he didn't get. That was always going to lead to a string of poor results while the new lads bedded in.

    Not saying he was perfect throughout, and he could have organised the defence a bit better, but I do think he was hard done by following a very impressive season in League one previously.

    Jones between Luton stints wasn't anywhere near as bad as Stendel has been since leaving us.

    Thrilling football. Passionate coach kicking every ball from the touchlines.

    I doubt we'll appoint him mind you, but I'd feel confident we had someone on the touch line who at least cared and wanted to do his best.
