When did Scott Parker leave? last few days in June wasn't it? Also remember they had a squad that wasn't going to change much.
My biggest issue with the process is the extra time being bolted on by these questionnaires. It's been a while since we got permission to approach Duff, and don't really agree with Khaled's comments about why we've asked them to fill in a questionnaire instead of just speaking to people when we can. The fact is, we've got players coming in for pre-season and we've still not filled the head coach position that's been vacant since April. Did Khaled also say that this process was what he followed when appointing Poya as well? Vaguely recall something from the marathon session he had with you and @Gally last season.
Who knows what’s going on, but it doesn’t sound promising. The Hasselbaink Zoom call, the missing of the deadlines etc - all sounds like a shambles. Again.
My main point is that people on the outside are making the process sound like a super simple one. I would expect two interviews with anyone we want to offer the job to, and it appears that we've done that with Duff, so IF it ends up being him how can we be so absolutely certain that we've caused the delays rather than other factors? I think we'll appoint someone next week. It's before the full squad are back in training and we're bringing the players back early anyway, so that's a head start regardless. Would have been great to have someone in by 1st June, but I don't think an extra week is an issue if we end up appointing the right person. Until we know who it is, we've no idea if the process was slow, efficient, too thorough, a disaster, etc. And in reality, where we are in the table come May will determine the success of it.
You're talking as if it's a one way process. I'm curious about what it is that makes you think selling the club to a prospective manager is easy (by that, I mean a manager we might actually want, as opposed to an application from any old Tom/Dick/Harry). There's nothing glamorous about the club or the town. We don't throw silly money away on player wages. Our budget is under severe pressure. Our stadium is looking shabby. Our squad has deficiencies. We've just been relegated with an appalling points tally. Next season is going to be tough, really tough. And we want someone who can get us promoted at the earliest opportunity. Go on, sell that to me. If you cant get me interested in taking on the job before 5pm today, you're fired.
Huh? Allowing Conway to bypass all the due diligence and make a God-awful appointment off his own back = good. Taking time to recruit in the off-season, following a planned approach = needs "heavy criticising" of the newly formed board. In summary, **** decisions taken quickly are better than considered ones. Brilliant deduction!
I think both Khaled and Conway are terrible. Conman has finally disappeared, and hopefully Khaled will follow ASAP. The man isn't fit to run a football club.
In all honesty in due respect forrest are more appealing than Barnsley fc . Size of club fan base history etc.
Isn’t one of the problems we overlook is that we really are not that attractive a proposition? We have fired two manager in the last 6 months The playing squad the coach inherits will be significantly weaker than the team that finished bottom of the championship. His ability to bring in specific players will be restricted by funds and the approach adopted by the club. Actual salary will not be a massive carrot and there are likely to be break clauses. If you were a coach in employment in the league would you want to chance it with BFC given the last 12 months? Khaled has got a big sales job on his hands. Let’s just hope he delivers.
