    The same had happened to Blackpool yesterday maybe an announcement is imminent? Blackpool’s have now reappeared with duff 4th favourite at 14/1 he’s well on the slide for them

    Well if they’ve just interviewed Micky Mellon how will Rosenior/Derby and Duff/Cheltenham be feeling? Thought it was just us that interviewed multiple people at the same time

    I say that in complete jest by the way. But with Blackburn not having appointed anyone yet, and Blackpool interviewing multiple people, then it could be that our delay really is down to availability and holiday as it was so close to the end of the season, and that we’re not too dissimilar to a lot of other clubs.

    Take Blackburn as an example. They’re on their second round of interviews and one of the leading candidates is also speaking to Standard Liege. Also, the first two people heavily linked ended up being appointed elsewhere.

    With Burnley, Kompany seems nailed on for that job, but despite being confirmed by the press three days ago he doesn’t look like officially getting the job until next week.

    Suggests to me that it isn’t as simple as we like to make out, and that managers won’t care how many people are up for the same job because they’re also touting themselves around to multiple jobs at the same time.

    I know. But what is a work permit to one, could be extra time with the family to another, or agreed compensation to another. It’s not always the recruiting club being slow that is the reason for a delay, is my point.

    According to Nixon, Blackburn have missed out on there first 4 names.. all gone elsewhere. One the ex Wednesday boss who's name escapes me gone to Saudi somewhere on megabucks . Another was the Wycombe boss who's happy where he is.

    Farke who went to Monchengladbach was one. Delia, the ex Celtic manager, is their new favourite but waiting ratification from the board to discuss terms. However he’s also talking to Standard Liege.

    My point was that it was nailed on yesterday that Rosenior had got the Blackpool job, probably sparked by the bookies changing his odd to 10/1 on. But today its come out they spoke to Mellon yesterday. Nothing is done until its done. Deals fall at the last fence all the time.

    100%. That’s why this notion that hiring a new coach is simple doesn’t ring true with me at all. Totally get we could be quicker about it, and maybe keep a bit more of a closed book, but the criticism has been OTT given the squad isn’t fully back until 20th June and the recruitment challenge isn’t alien to Barnsley FC.
