I saw that. Complete waste of time. It’s a kickabout in an empty park to be fair. As much as I loved watching us under Val, it reminds me how awful other games were to watch without supporters in the ground.
Yes. We were in a group with San Marino and Andorra though so that weighted it a bit. We did qualify excellently and comfortably though. As is usually the case. That can’t be said of Italy of course. His tournament record is great and if he improves again this winter as he has thus far we will come home with the trophy. However, I’m not sure of your age, but even in getting to a final, I’d argue both Bobby Robson and Terry Venables had teams which were as close to being a tournament winner. They at least had a go at winning the semi games they ended up losing on penalties. In that final last year he had his team stop playing after two minutes. Against a relatively poor Italy team who went on to fail to qualify for the World Cup from a group with Switzerland and Northern Ireland as the strongest opposition. We have some good players who could do most teams a lot of damage but every performance seems to have wrought iron shackles all over it.
Heard some lines tonight. 1. Presenter - we carved out of lots of chances. ******* wen 2. Mount - we created lots of chamces. Good 1 mount. Dont rate him never gd enough at international level. 3. Grealish - tammy abraham is a world class player. Chances of winning world cup fuckin 0. Southgate far too negative 2 holdin midfielders and either 4 or 5 defenders. Take a look at city and liverpool soithgate dont really care if u score as they will get 4 or 5

In danger of wasting another golden generation with his safety first tactics.
Just a couple of points on this one. Italy weren’t a poor team at the Euros last year. They broke the record for longest undefeated run (or consecutive wins. Or both) and started off like a rocket. Everyone was tipping them to win it. You’ll never dominate the whole of a final when two quality teams come up against each other. We probably scored too early, but there was always going to be a spell where Italy took over and we needed to weather that. Liverpool or Citeh don’t dominate each other for 90 minutes. Loved England under Sir Bobby. But we didn’t get off to the best of starts did we? Had our challenges. Under Venables we struggled against Switzerland, needed brilliance from Seaman and Gazza beating Scotland, and battered Holland. A very drab draw and penalties win against Spain before losing to Germany via the size of an extra boot on Gazza’s left foot. We were the same length away on John Stones’s head from beating Italy in extra time too.
Does any1 ever think cant wait to wqtch emgland match. As its fun or exciting. Im working all 3 group games in WC and to be honest i dont care
1) We did create chances and should have converted three of them 2) Not sure about Mount myself but I like his attitude and energy 3) Taking your Liverpool example, they’ve got a better front three than England, a better keeper, better wing backs, and a better CB. They can afford to never have the handbrake on.
Cymru 1 (Johnson - Nottm F.) -- Belgium 1 (Tielemans.) Again, well done Robert Page and Hennesey brilliant!
i'm wi loko, southgate on record our best gaffa since 66 BUT can he take us further and does he deserve a chance, yes for but know we'll fail
I know on paper it looks as though he's done well. Semi final of WC & Euro Final. But we were fortunate in 2018, and as soon as we played a half decent side in Belgium & Croatia, we lost. I don't think he's a particularly 'bad' manager, but I do believe we got there in spite of Southgate, not because. The players we have available and the way we play, just doesn't suit. I also think the strength in depth we have nowadays are far better than times gone by. I really believe if we had a better manager we would easily have won the Euros, especially the final against Italy, who failed miserably to qualify for world cup as suggested in comments above. I just don't rate him for England. Think he's a yes man. I'd also say some of the 'better' nations aren't as strong currently either, particularly Spain, Italy, and Germany - in my opinion - and that's not mentioning non-European nations Imagine a Pep or Klopp there. Or someone who plays fantastic football like Ten Haag did for Ajax. I'd honestly, if we wanted an English manager at the helm, go for Potter. He plays fantastic football, and would be even higher up the league with a proper goal scorer. I think he'll have a fantastic career
I think this a bit captain hindsight and not appreciating what we’ve got. You’re talking like we have this right to be contesting for major international honours regularly, but in what positions do we have the best player in the world? Declan Rice and Harry Kane maybe? This team isn’t even close to what Sven and Capello had in my opinion. I’m also a big fan of the job of the England manager being more than just the 90 minutes. Southgate has managed to turn a bunch of overpaid footballers in to role models you can actually relate to. He’s got the press more onside than any other manager I’ve known, which is huge for the game and for the players, and is a role model himself. I’m proud he’s our manager, I’m proud when he speaks, and as long as he’s delivering he’s our best shout. The comparisons with Pep and Klopp don’t work for me. One has just spent £190m on a striker and the other has spent £100m in six months on a forward and a striker.
He's had Croatia and Italy both rocked on the back foot in the World Cup Semi and the Euro Final and allowed or told his team to go into their shell, yielded the control of the game to the opposition and lost both matches.
We have not got the players to win major tournaments . Our players are good, some very good but they play in teams where the best players are foreign !
Thats one of the biggest regrets I'll have as a fan, knowing we had both of those matches won, if we'd been more professional. And remember we did the same away to Holland as well, in one of these recent Nations league semi finals. How many more times though can we keep choking when it matters, because we won't keep getting that far.
Korky we had a better team in 1970 than 1966 and our manager at the time lost the world cup by his mistakes he substituted Bobby Charlton for Norman Hunter. The present-day players are as good as any other top country but I'm afraid our manager is not good enough to take them over the line and win a trophy I just don't think he's not good enough to blend the best player into a Trophy-winning team I'm thinking he's got his favorites and that's one thing that will always be a managers downfall.
I think we’re on that slippery slope (again) of hyping up the squad in to something they’re not, just like the good old days when we had big name managers and got nowhere near winning anything. We don’t have one of the best keepers in the world, and only Trent really has an argument for being in contention for any ‘best of the world’ defence. Declan Rice is our best case in midfield, but needs tone winning trophies before we start touting best in the world. Foden is a massive talent but hasn’t shown it regularly enough yet, jury is out on Mount and Grealish, and in Kane we’ve got the best goal scorer in the world alongside Haaland. This isn’t an era of players like Sven had. It could be eventually, because they’re all still kids, which makes what Southgate has achieved the last 3/4 years more admirable.
Fortunately I fell asleep and missed the game from the 32nd minute to waking up on the 87th minute of the game ...saw enough of the game to confirm my feelings ... Southgate is a rich man's Keith Hill playing tippy tappy football..once again stifling any attacking football and natural talent.
