If we finally get our finger out of our arse and ever appoint the Duffster, Ive heard from a reliable source hes wanting Maxim Tsigalko as his number 2 and Cherno Samba as his coach, both instrumental when they were in the same Telford United side that went on that amazing run to the champions league final 2 years consecutively, only to lose out twice to AC Milan. This after sealing the premiership on 3 seperate occasions back in the 2010's with myself expertly guiding them.
He relies heavily on Kim Kallstrom for tactical advice so could be costly for us to get the gang back together, but would be a dream ticket. Was an amazing pro for me back then, first name on the team sheet, and always got 7+ every game. Eventually had to sell, you just cant turn down 10m when Man Utd come calling.
Fingers crossed we snare him. Be mint

He actually does have a pretty handy back-room staff, which includes Wade Elliott (formerly Bournemouth and Burnley) and Russell Milton (once of Ipswich Town), so, if he does move anywhere, you would expect some key members to come with him. After all, he has been with them at least since 2018 when he was appointed to Cheltenham.

I can't even see why Chris beech is in the running' his managerial record is abysmal' and that was in the bottom tier' it would be desperation indeed..

Totally agree.. but he is. Which must tell us a truer story of where we are.

We are in a desperate situation. No one really wants this job. Hope we get Duff, but will only be because Blackpool have a better option. If not the smart money is on Stendel IMO.

I don't think its the case of us being black balled in any way or being a bad club to work for. I think the answers are everything we know already.
First thing and probably most important, is our loss of revenue after relegation. The Board has, in its own words.. had to put a million pounds in to stop a fire sale.. So hopefully that brings more cash in long term.
All the perspective coaches, that in the YP's words "have fallen by the wayside" would have been interested at one point. But after talking to the club.. the deal on offer was a "no". Probably not just, but maybe wages. But more so the working budget and transfers. How much say and how much they actually have to work with. Which will depend totally on sales, which at this point they won't even know.. so maybe, nothing or next to nothing.. depending on the shortfall.

So the chances of any coach being successful here next season is looking unlikely. So why would anyone with anything to lose want the job. Will Duff turn us down and get a new deal Cheltenham?... maybe.
So we are looking further down the list now, or even on list 2 or 3. With Beech and Stendel now being the names mentioned.. Beech maybe the cheap option that interviews well. May be half the price of some of the others interviewed, especially if he'll come in and work with Disco and Lauman as is. Then winner winner chicken dinner.
Poor old Stendel just looks like desperation after 8 weeks now of trying..
Or are the club playing the fans a bit by mentioning those two. So when Duff appears the flags will be out and get a majority backing? we'll see..

This issue re backroom staff, could be a major stumbling block for me. Most mangers/head coaches. Like to bring in people they trust. Not strangers who they no little or nothing about and may not show as much enthusiasm re their style of running things. Loyalty to such as disco (to be part of the 1st team structure) could be a hindrance. I know Duff and Disco played together. It doesn't mean to say they admire each other for any given reason.

I know if I was a coach I would absolutely want my back room staff with me, to give me the best chance of success.
There’s enough to do to get a first team squad doing exactly what you want, without trying to educate the people trying to help you.

If Hussain Abdul-Ghani Sulaimani and Antony Vanden Borre aren't on the ticket I don't want to know...

Its a fair shout mate, very decent and could bring much flair to the piece at Oakwell.
Ive heard from a good source though that Taribo West is interested as hes a free agent after leaving his last club and the Legend that is Tonton Zola Moukoko, scourge of many a defence back in the day is up for the Journey. Exciting times for the reds if Duff can get the boys together.
Skip (Duff) asked my advice, taking Telford to 3 premiership titles in a row, that sort of stuff doesent go unnoticed, and ive gave him my advice, still calls me gaffer after all this time bless him. I said were a great club, just run like Fred Karno's circus at the minute, so should come for the long haul.
He'll listen to his gaffa... he always did.

Gloucestershire Live understands none of Duff's backroom team will be following him to South Yorkshire.
