guess it depends on the nature of those first 8. we all pretty much realised 8 games in for example, that schopp and poya were clueless
people will definitely not be expecting us to start the season without a win from our first 8 games

Interesting article in the Blackpool Gazette discusses this...

"When he first came in he had been Burnley’s Under-23s coach and when he first arrived he actually tried to play quite direct.

He saw Cheltenham were struggling in League Two and he used a 4-4-2 - so he was very much of the Burnley first-team mould, battling against the odds to stay in the league with quite direct, quite percentage-based football.

It didn’t work for him at all, so he ditched it after it took him 10 games to get his first league win.

That coincided with a switch to 3-5-2, which he used for the first time in an EFL Trophy game, so he almost stumbled upon it really"

not really sure what my view is on formations tbh. last season we were absolutely awful in every formation we tried. midfield absolutely critical for me though. current crop of midfielders will get slaughtered in L1. zero toughness.

Russell Milton was never coming - he's been in and around Cheltenham for the best part of 30 years. On the other hand this could mean that Wade Elliott is coming with Duff.

Anyone remember pouring Milton into their water in order to make it drinkable in principle but undrinkable in taste?

There were many a faux pas during my parents' caravanning virginity in the late 60's.

Perhaps the Milton was supposed to go down the loo.

BRILLIANT NEWS! The best appointment possible of the names mentioned and for all the reasons already known. He will stabilise the team, whether or not we are able to mount a sound promotion push next season, which depends a fair bit on what movements there are in the transfer market and whether we are able adequately to replace any departees. Give him time to establish his discipline and methodology and we will thrive again. Great news and well done the board in getting this done. A pragmatic decision to bring in a manager who know League One already and who has succeeded already at that level with a lesser squad than he will inherit with us. Welcome to Oakwell, Michael.
