Welcome Michael - glad you're here. I've argued through the last 2 or 3 appointments that we've needed someone UK based because imo the likelihood of them staying longer is higher. Michael Duff ticks that box as well as being 'up and coming' whilst also having plenty of experience of L1. I'm right behind him (whilst also recognising that we may need to be patient because I think he'll need some time to turn things around).
I believe this is a good appointment. Last two i had no idea if they were great or poor at the appointment stage. This one feels better but of course its now down to a) his ability and b) how much we back him as a club
Well, most of us wanted British with L1 experience, and that's what we've got! Good luck Michael and welcome to Oakwell
Probably the first move by the new board that demonstrates they intend to do as they say... ( unlike Conman) 2nd move is back him with transfers in and out to put the emphasis back to matters on the pitch. ye there's not a large pot but if some of the current crop do get sold Duff must be involved in any replacements, whether loans or free transfers. help him build a side that we can get behind. ..and we'll get behind it.
Happy with this! Played at pretty much every level & has plenty of games under his belt at lg2 & lg1 level. Definitely a manager on the up, let’s hope that continues with us.
Never in doubt https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/duff-on-his-way.314642/page-8#post-2965738 Nice change of tact to have a contract length as don't we usually give a rolling contract.
Don't think it's likelhood of them staying longer - Val went to West Brom and two previous ones we couldn't wait to get them out of the back door.
