It was more like 250k,the million quid rumours were dispelled by the club. Another rumour which kept hanging around was that he was Moores replacement which he never was. Moores replacement turned us down at the last minute and Patrick was fetched in to bolster the squad
Didn’t work out, football be like dat. His attitude was always 100% though, and he could have sat on his contract. Obviously just wants to play football. Wish him well.
I've been fairly reliably informed that it was nowhere near seven figures despite the random reports saying it was. I've been unreliably informed at times as well though!
Yeah that's why I said allegedly. And it doesn't matter who's replacement he was, he was still really poor, for all he seems a decent bloke.
Although individual player signing fees are not recorded the totality in any financial year are. The year Patrick Schmidt signed the total transfer fees paid were £6.32m. This was made up of: 1 Luke Thomas from Derby 2 Mike Bahre from Hannover 3 Bambo Diaby from Lokeren 4 Aappo Halme from Leeds 5 Malik Wilks from Leeds 6 Mads Andersen from Horsens 7 Toby Sibbick from Wimbledon 8 Connor Chaplin from Coventry 9 Clark Odour from Leeds 10 Michael Sollbauer from Wolfsberger 11 Marcel Ritzmaier from Wolfsberger 12 Patrick Schmidt from Admira Wacker Those 12 players accounted for £6.32m transfer fees. One fee for definite is £0.5m for Bambo Diaby as that is shown as a write off in intangible assets. If Patrick was a pittance then some serious cash must have been spent on some of the other signings. With the exception of Mads it really hasn’t ended being the best transfer window. Anyway onwards and upwards and hopefully the club can learn from these mistakes.
Thats where i was getting the over 1million pound for schmidt from i remember you posting this and another poster. It would definitely suggest we parted with a large sum for him in the best window ever. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-schmidt/profil/spieler/297590 Transfermarkt has his transfer to us at 1.08 million
I estimated fees paid below along with current value. 1 Luke Thomas from Derby £1m (£0m) 2 Mike Bahre from Hannover £0.1m - (released) 3 Bambo Diaby from Lokeren £0.5m - (contract cancelled) 4 Aappo Halme from Leeds £0.5m - (released) 5 Malik Wilks from Leeds £0.9m - (sold £0.9m) 6 Mads Andersen from Horsens £0.9m (£3m) 7 Toby Sibbick from Wimbledon £0.45m (sold £0.1m) 8 Connor Chaplin from Coventry £0.7m (sold £0.75m) 9 Clark Odour from Leeds £0.3m (£0m) 10 Michael Sollbauer from Wolfsberger £0.2 (sold £0.2m) 11 Marcel Ritzmaier from Wolfsberger £0.1(free) 12 Patrick Schmidt from Admira Wacker £0.7m (released) As I said at the time, all estimates but overall, a lot of money in the context of BFC spent for minimal return.
Not sure if you're over here in July, but Real Madrid are playing Club América across the road from me on the 26th. San Francisco is also home to one of the 2026 World Cup stadiums, if you call Levi Stadium being in San Francisco, when it's 42+ miles south in Santa Clara County.
Probably not too far off there mate, but add £400k to Ritzy as that fee was said to be at the half a million mark. Malik Wilks was a cool million by all accounts, and I'm sure we/local media, confirmed Chaplin up at £800k (less certain on that though). I think with some of the over exaggerated transfer fees relate to what the amount could end up being, if a player or the club were successful, rather than what we pay up front.
I've seen that LA and SF are getting games for the World Cup so all being well I'll have a handy base for that one and games there. Will also be easier for the World Cup to travel around to wherever England are if you're already based in the US, so that would be my plan for that month. My sabbatical at work would kick in for 2024 annoyingly - otherwise a month off paid to enjoy the World Cup would have been a dream.
Best wishes Patrick. I still love you. If you'd scored v QPR in Val's first game you'd have been a hero. Sadly missed and thank you for having the balls to ignore all the fluff and get your head down in the run-in under Struber.
https://flyeralarmadmira.at/willkom...hmidt-kehrt-zum-fc-flyeralarm-admira-zurueck/ No mention of a fee. Surely we got something for him?
https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2019/august/schmidt-2023/ When we announced him signing for us Conman mentioned it being the most successful window in our history. Yet as we look back on the names mentioned only Collins and Andersen out of the dozen brought in have been a success.
A forward full of pace and energy? OK. Fair play, a couple of the goals he grabbed were excellent finishes, although he struggled to repeat that, but I've seen more energetic limpets.
If you can make profit on a window then its not bad. Mads Anderson IMO should be the most expensive sale Barnsley have ever made after Stones. Collins Million pound goalkeeper. Chaplin wiped feet and some with him. Wiliks same Diaby. Championship player to this day. Luke Thomas. Don't write him off. In the right system he could smash it.
