Signing Duff like it 2 new spread sheet signings look good potential. Players that have left Schmidt, Miller Halme, I would have done the same. Kept Devaney etc great Neerav, khaled, Jean, James, Julie Anne seem to be doing things right. We know some players will be leaving and there is still a lot to do. I do think we have dropped lucky now with our owners and are in a good place.
I'm way more hopeful than I was a couple of months ago. I'll judge them by what they do but so far it's a much better outlook in my eyes. I don't think turning us round is going to be instantaneous but they have made a good start.
I’ve gone with option too early but positive. So far things are looking good in fact I’m quite impressed but let’s see where we are in August.
The amount of incentives that have been offered to season ticket holders this summer so far has been encouraging. I'd rather that, than promises of vouchers and free t-shirts etc, that finally materialise months later and ultimately are underwhelming. The managerial appointment is an encouraging one. A hungry, seemingly loyal young manager who has a track record of overachieving on a budget. A 3 year contract too seems to suggest that he was (or at least one of) our first choice. The players we've signed so far seem to have potential. I'll reserve judgement on them for the time being. The young keeper could be an indicator that we don't expect Collins to leave, and he'll be here to compete. It might not indicate that at all either like. Connell seems to have come with a lot of promise; limited championship experience but back to back promotions in Scotland (albeit in the bottom two leagues), but I suppose good experience in the lower leagues is better than a negative experience in the leagues we're aspiring to compete at. So I'm in the too early to tell but positive camp at the minute.
On point 2.. I think we've got "potential" coming out of our ears at oakwell. Would like a couple of.. steady the shippers.. in. Happy so far, but this is his time to shine... Khaled will be judged at the end of the window
I went for too early to tell but positive. I would have liked to know why the backers don't want us to know who they are. Catering we won't know about until next season starts. People having problems with the email for digital season ticket. No sign of replica kits but you can spend £50 on a blanket they have just released in time for the summer. We've only heard a few minutes yet from Julie. Got rid of one player who was still in contract but no sign of a fee mentioned by either club so could be chalked off at a loss. No idea how good to the two new guys are until we see them play. They could be the next Glavin/Watson or the next Shea/Radlinger we don't know yet. We've a unflattering home friendly where the away fans will mock us all game. What they are doing for the Worksop friendly is a positive. As is keeping Disco with the first team and demoting Laumann. Duff looks a good appointment. When he flaps his gums he's got my attention. I'm positive he can have us pushing for promotion from the off.
Yep.. what we do now effects every game between now and January. Don't expect 100% to go our way. But we must get more right than not. Last thing we want is Duff coming out in October and saying.we should have done this, we should have done that, in the pre-season window
To coin a Bozo term - I think we need an oven ready central midfield player. One who will “do the dirty work”
What are Gwyn Thomas or Daz 'Norman' Sheridan doing these days lol. They knew how to get stuck in, and their hard work is what helped Steve Agnew and Neil Redfearn to do as well as what they did.
Genuine question The one that put given up and not bothered. I'd be interested to know why would you bother visiting a fans forum. ? Tbh my views on the original takeover were mixed but generally ok with it. Then Conway blew all that away. I picked the second choice as I am more of an optimist than pessimist. There will always be things I'll be in disagreement with. Eg matchday pricing. Some issues re Shirt sales etc. And will bring to their attention, my views, when given the opportunity. But at the end of the day. there are bigger issues that they have to deal with that are over and above my head. And I'll trust em to deal as necessary. I had the same issues with Patrick. But it didn't get in the way of my respect for him.
Everybody knows we need an experienced spine.. ideally.. If Helik goes a center-back, a center-mid and an experienced striker if we lose both Woodrow and Morris would be nice.
The next step for me is to see us bring in the experienced players Michael Duff in his press conference said would be needed to help guide the younger ones. These past few days & weeks have been very positive for the club.
Think it's positive that Duff and Disco played together at Cheltenham too. Disco spoke about it last week, they seem to be mates.
Feeling more positive now than i have in a while, even when Val had us in the playoff spot I wasn't as happy about our direction as i am now. I am cautiously optimistic that our whole club is working together.
You can see Neerav and Crynes being here for a while now, When Neerav sees Oakwell noisy and bouncing again then hopefully his love for the club will start to match ours and see its more than an investment opportunity.
Id say Im cautiously optimistic, definitely a lot more than I was when that recent shi*t storm of a season ended. He/Duff sounds like hes ready to get to work, and Im looking forward to the pre-season build up much more now.
