I think Barnsley Live is becoming a victim of its own success, all pubs were packed yesterday even those without music, we went to Digital to see the black lamps and couldn't get through the doors
We tried to watch both Parson's Lot and Mark Jackson, but left as it was so full. Maybe I'm getting old but it felt dangerously full to me.
Genuinely moving to read these posts. I've known the guys in Cubic and Stellavision my whole life. They both played their first ever gig in Mapplewell Village Hall in 1988, Cubic were Cynical Smile back then, Stellavision were Crocodile Tears. And I was there watching as I have been many, many times over the years. I don't think either band have ever sounded as good as they do now. The two drummers have added a lot, Dean is excellent for Cubic (and Black Lamps) and Stellavision's drummer is the lead singer's son, which gives a clue to how old we all are now. But watching them and drinking into the night with them all makes me feel young again.
Went yesterday. My brother and mates were running and doing PA at a few venues Inc KGV Browne's (old names I'm nearly 50!). All rammed. Decent acts. Can't blame the venues for cashing in after losing best part of 18months trade and no summer world cup to look forward to. It was busy like but I thought a comfortable busy where I was.
