Today's Mail and Times apparently originally carried the story about Johnson attempting to have his (then) mistress Carrie Symonds appointed as Chief of Staff at the Foreign Office on £100k+. Both papers have pulled the story. I get that this is by-election week, but both papers carry disobliging stories about Starmer (an ongoing campaign). What they did to Corbyn they are now doing to Starmer and will do to whoever is Labour's next leader.

Meanwhile, the Johnson/Symonds story is still available here: The New European - Think without borders

I’d quite like an explanation as to why the story has been pulled. If it’s inaccurate an apology and correction would be appropriate
Best guess given the stories have literally just disappeared is some injunction which is concerning

I don't know what the provenance if the 'New European' is, but they seem content to run with the story. It therefore looks more like an 'editorial' decision.

My best guess is that it doesn't suit the agenda of the papers that were fed the story, otherwise why would the New European report it along with a photograph of the print article?

You could be right but it seems strange they would publish in the first place. So was it unwoke righty lawyers acting for Bozo or the owners that got the story pulled

We are leaderless , aPM devoid of any kind of statesmanship other than quoting Churchill or running off to Ukraine every time he’s getting scrutiny .
We have a cabinet full of self absorbent, useless, clueless ,talentless and every other less you can think of that are more interested in feathering nests and dividing the country aided by the most right wing press barons that are being more enriched than anytime before the second ww .
People being conned into thinking there is no alternative by these media barons and drinking it in .

Not another one please. We've had more Johnson scandals these last 12 months than half time draws.

When I saw the title I thought you meant little Lee was having problems with the corridor of confusion or commandant LaSalle had been having more problems with his pulpit. :D

No obvious legal issues, as the Guardian is running an article about the story's disappearance. More likely a call from inside No10 to a friendly editor.

One thing I only just learned - when Thatcher allowed Murdoch to buy the Times and the Sunday times there was a binding agreement that Murdoch had to keep seperate editorial teams and he himself could not exert editorial control.
In February this year our Culture Secratary Nadine Dorres removed this restriction - this doesnt seem to have been well reported other than in the Guardian
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2...-interference-in-times-and-sunday-times-ended though this is also confirmed by a former Times Journalist

Wonder if this is Just Murdoch looking after his mates

Notice that first it was denied by govt sources that they'd spoken to the Times, then eventually they state they had.

Do you remember when such an initial cover up would have transcended into scandal where people would lose their jobs? Now we just see it as another Monday morning. That's why this is so dangerous. The more they push, the more they are treated to apathy or light tuts, the worse it will get.

This government not only have no shame, they seem to revel in the fact.
