Thought Herbie Kane finished the season with a bad injury at Oxford but he looks like he’s running etc in training and doing ok .
I think. but don't take it as a given. That it was said they hoped he'd be ready for the start. Or Not long after.
I’m sure I read something about him not being as badly injured as was originally feared. Probably in the Chronicle a few weeks ago.
That’s good news then he’s tried and tested at Div 1 level and should give us a bit more experience in midfield.
Barnsley hasn't ever been that well liked by our players and management. Most of them either live in a big city like Leeds or Sheffield or in the case of coaches don't bring their family with them.
The conspiracy theory on here was that, Robinson had made it sound worse than it was, so our board would be hoodwinked into selling him on the cheap. Obviously our own medical staff weren't going to do their own tests on him. It's possibly one of my all time favourite posts on here.
The last time I saw him play against us he ran the game for Doncaster against a Reds side that were on a 17 game unbeaten run. The last time I saw him play a full half of league football for us - at high-flying Bournemouth - he gave the best performance in 2020/21 by a Reds central midfield player not called Alex Mowatt. Hopefully Duff can get the same tune out of him.
No. They got a 50% wage cut due to a relegation clause so have to shop there now instead of M&S for food.
I think Duff will like him. Herbie is known as a set piece taker too and Duff likes his team to be effective from set plays. I suspect Connell and Kane will play a fair bit this season for the set piece taking.
I'm not very confident in Herbie Kane at all. The talk in cricket you are better when you are out of the sides very true in this instance with some. He just doesn't cover the ground. It's physically impossible for him to do it with how he's built. Josh Bensons is also technically better than him. Josh also covers the ground a lot better. I think unless one goes in as a number 10 in a 4231 I don't see Kane starting many games 22/23 at all. Depending on how the teams are built with a 2 or a 3. You want a balance. You want a DM type that can rat and recycle. Then you either want a box-to-box or a ball player. If you go 3 with a DM dedicated player you want all 3 ideally. I do think we need to bring in a DM rat-like we had in Gomes. Wolfe can play that but also can be a box-to-box if fully fit and confident. I think this Connell got a few strings to his bow too. up and down with ball-playing ability. Free Kicks/ Corners. Left-footed for balance if needed.
He was the best player on show that day against Bournemouth. Simply unplayable. Then he got injured and hasn't been seen in a red shirt since sadly. I think he'll be a big part of our side next season. He's vastly experienced in league 1 and still at the right age to improve.
Great I’m really glad you don’t like him. This means he’s going to be brilliant all season and your going to constantly slate him and come up with ridiculous reasons to justify your dislike for him
