Freedom of information, unless those who have the information don't want to give it to you. What a farce.

I presume the police would have to sieve through the data in order to send us the bill ????

Im not either - They had reasons to move it already to hand - they must have made an analysis and decided it was necessary to move it otherwise they would have left it at 3pm

All the councillor asked was what those reasons were - I dont believe it takes 18 hours to make a quick summary of the reason given internally
so the cynic might suggest the reasons a clearly not sufficient to justify the decisions and they dont want to prove to the world they were wrong so are just hiding and hoping the scrutiny goes away

If there really was a good reason it would make sense to explain

Billings should be doing it on behalf of the people who voted him in. He shouldn't be accountable to the police force but to the people he's been elected to serve.

Not to defend SYP particularly, but the previous occasion Preston had their gentry day here, there were loads of them acting like b*ll-*nds in town pre-match. Not especially spoiling for a fight, just being obnoxious and disrespectful of their surroundings / other people, so I did kind of understand the kick-off change

A week before the match it was being muted that Preston were supposed to be bringing 4000 fans for their gentry day but the truth was that on the day there looked to be nowhere near half that figure , it would appear to me that the intel for Prestons visit might have been way off thus the end result being the kick off moved & the volume of police way over the top, someone cocked up !

I don't know which is worse. That the police just don't want to release the figures the bent ******** or that they claim they don't even know which town their officers are in

Then you would have thought that the Police would have known this & reduced their presence accordingly .

Who says he isn't. ?. He's more on his hands I'd say trying to rebuild trust. Between the public and (Given the latest on the Rotherham child victims abuse case) The police. Not one officer sacked.
He is accountable to the electorate.
Costs of this match pale into insignificance in comparison. Others can take up that issue, through legal.chanels.
Also as others have pointed out. If there hadn't been a big enough presence. And given the Gentrys reputation it kicked off. They would have been criticised for not being prepared.

"Building trust"? The police coining it in on unwarrented overtime and then dismissing a foi request with a spurious answer is really going to build trust with the public.

I'm on about Billings role. Not the police. They have a lot of bridges to build.
    Miners strike still
    Hillsboro
    Rotherham child abuse
And it's his job to hold em to account. You give the impression he's acting as though he's accountable to them. If that's the case. Why.?
And yes the ultimate aim is to rebuild trust.
Generations away from that one btw.

So if thats the case why cant the police tell us ? Though to be fair there are a significant minority of our own fans who go around being obnoxious and disrespectful

Of course the police CAN tell us. They just don't want to.

Information is provided on a strict "need to know" basis. If you need to know, they can't give you the info. Only people who don't need to know are allowed the info. Anyone who asks for the info automatically puts themselves in the need to know category.
