Once he got injured, Chesterfield's season sadly petered out, there were Championship clubs monitoring him at the time. I think everyone is wanting to see if he can make a full recovery, if he does, he will possibly end up in the Championship. People say he is a good footballer and no problem off the pitch.
I'd offload Victor and Thompson. Keep hold of Morris and take a look pre season how a Morris / Marsh partnership could develop. If we have any cash! then a leader in Central Midfield would be where my money needs to go. Never replaced Woodrow. A Solbauer type mentality to bring on Wolfe..
To be fair he is only 26 so he has not being playing as a pro for ten years , 1st pro contract at 18 so that alters his match stats somewhat & averages more than half a season , he has made 231 appearances since making his debut in aug 2014 , which come out nigh on 30 games a season & if you consider when you start your career you only play a bit part so his stats are not too bad at all .
I think for anyone above league 2, he's a gamble, even more so with his injury last season. There were rumours he'd be fit enough for the play offs, so I wonder whether he's nearing a return soon. Their season completely collapsed after his injury. I believe they were top at the time.
Martin Adam that big Hungarian striker , probably out of our league fee wise but his wages wouldn’t be
We can't rely on Marsh. Looks very promising, but very raw and had injury problems already at his tender age. Even if we try that, what happens when Morris does inevitably get injured during parts of the season? Big ask
Big ask yep but so is a £7m black hole financially.. but it's worth looing at how they combine pre season.. Or Morris plus one other... Physical presence cover for if Morris gets injured is a concern, but to bring another striker in I'd say get shut of 2 more fringe players up top to try and keep the books balanced.
Not seen anyone linked with Morris.. not publicly anyway. Doesn't mean there isn't. Love to keep him but think he'll be away by end of August.
Whats Ashley Fletcher doing these days lol. Admittedly though, he did a good job for us in Lg one alongside Winnall & co.
I would be happy to go 4 3 3 next season and leave morris up top and loan a striker and keep aitchinson to be a utility player. Hes very quick too. We need 2 wingers for 4 3 3 and we will need another fullback and cm.
Duff has said he plays 352. It's what he used at Cheltenham and most likely what he will use here. That or a 343.
Ohh well, thats that then lol. Who was that tall striker we had in about 2015 under Johnson, George summat ?. Not a suggestion btw, just wondered.
He said it in his first interview when asked what can we expect from a Michael Duff team. It's the same as what Struber played with us and we've been in a back 3 for a while now so makes sense to stick to that
https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=89684 Yet to score in America and no league goal for sixteen months.
George Waring? he's currently at Chester in the 6th tier of english football. I really quite rated him here too
