And I dun't think he (Fletcher) did anything at Middlesbrough did he, in the Champship. Its a surprise though because he looked good for us.
Another to add to the long list of players that should have stayed/signed with us rather than take the bigger move. In reality who wouldn't choose West Ham over Barnsley, but in hindsight his career would probably have been so much better had he signed with us and developed a bit more here.
Pretty confident we'll need a Morris replacement as well as Woodrow. Sounds like Boro want him when they get £15m+ for Djed Spence.
Yeah Wardy is another who should (in hindsight), not have left when and how he did. But he apparently missed the Prem and had his head turned by the money that Blackburn were willing to pay him. Then a few years later he ended up even struggling with Bradford. How the mighty can fall ehh lol.
I'd be surprised if we hadn't had our heads turned by the money as well! £4.5m wasn't it? Not sure Barnsley have ever had a player who we wouldn't have wrapped up in a pretty bow and dropped off in the team coach for that kind of money.
I'm willing to give Cole and Iseka a chance but if we were in the market for a new striker, I'd like to see us go for Brandon Thomas-Asante from Salford. Young lad who seems to have been progressing nicely since breaking into their team a couple of years ago.
Top scorer in the Hungarian league by 16 goals last season. I don't think dropping down to the third tier in England will be high on his priorities list to be honest.
Tbh i'm surprised Wendy havent bid all their 60 billion season ticket sales money on him, as their striker count has dropped below the minimum 12. Mind you, he's not a 38 year old hasbeen...
Wouldn't surprise me as Wilder praised him for bullying their centre halves after we beat Boro at home last season. At least we should expect a decent fee if Boro come in for him.
Steve Claridge type. A bit of a character by all accounts, he had a reasonable season last year but is unpredictable. I think Barnsley fans would soon tire of him.
Yeah thats him lol, his grand dad (Mr Waring) used to present Its a knockout and Rugby league ?. But I remember he impressed during that run of 6 successive wins under Johnson, which got us into the Play off chase at the time.
Just to whack a few new names on that could be options maybe. Joe piggot from Ipswich. They are after a new striker themselves (Hirst linked) and that would shove Piggot down the pecking order. Had a great stint with AFC Wimbledon before moving to Ipswich. Good goal record in L1. Ashley Fletcher maybe? Just returned from NY Red bulls early after cancelling his loan. Had a view to permanent in the contract which won't be taken up. Has some bad few years but still only 26. We know he was very good for us in this league last time. Maybe could snag him on loan with view to permanent?
