Don't disagree with the point you've made, but it wasn't his only problem. There was a clear lack of effort in some games.

I've got Morris leaving and giving time to Aitchison. Cole and Iseka with the right coach could do well in league 1 both have games behind them and experience. We have other options but I have no doubt we will sign a new striker aswell for the starting 11.

I have Collins Helik Brittain Styles and Morris all down for leaving so haven't included any of them in my team for next season.

With Mccarthy coming in today the team looks like it can challenge without them.

I"ve got Morris staying with hopefully Iseka going, my opinion is that he is one of the laziest strikers I have seen in a reds shirt for many a year but I can take or leave Cole as I think he got the rough end of the stick last year & a British coach might get more out of him , we will see.

The coach is more important than any single player, he makes all the difference. This was clear last season the wrong coach can destroy a good set of players. Duff is a good coach. Iseka has bags of talent and skill, effort is the easiest thing to add to someone's game.

We will have to disagree with that my friend, effort is the hardest thing to add to some one in any field of work, if someone is lazy or bone idle it tends to be in their make up , I have worked with some talented individuals who I would not pay out in washers , simply because they do not like work & do not have the work ethic .

It's a sad world when putting in some effort to earn your money isn't a given, not everyone has skill and talent but everyone can work hard.

I think people can see he has the talent. But i once read roy keanes book he explained fergie would tell all the players talent mean nothing without application and winning your individual battles on the field and league one will be a battle at times. Hopefully duff can get the best out of him.

Maybe he didn't know what to do,considering the clowns we had in charge last season?

However, I would suggest there's no career in profesional football without effort, skill can only take a player so far, unlike in other fields of work.

Correct, if you watch the top players who play for Man City , Liverpool etc yes they are the most talented but also they are the hardest working t,hey never stop grafting the whole match especially off the ball , they lose the ball they win it back & this original conversation started when I suggested that Iseka in my opinion was bone idle & I would not be upset if we got shut , his movement & work rate off the ball is very poor .

Benson was just a yard slow in thinking and in application for championship level,he will do better in league 1

Obviously a lot can change in football, but last season he was arguably the poorest player for me, in an awful squad. Absolutely woeful.

Is it possible Benson never properly got over Covid? That it had long term effects on him?

That's the Benson I saw too. In a very poor team he was consistently one of the poorer performers. There are a number of very clear examples of us conceding goals where Benson was not doing his job. Not putting in the effort to close anyone down, track back or mark an opposition player. That was the most infuriating part of his game. But he showed very little talent either. In an entire season there are a few examples of some good passes he made. There are many more of him passing the ball directly to the opposition in our own half when he was under no pressure.

I hope he comes good. I hope all our players do. But an honest assessment of his performances so far is that he has been poor.
