Interesting article on BBC sport website regarding the demise of OAFC. Barnsley F.C. and Lee Johnson get a mention amongst other things, sounds like Oldham were desperate to offload to receive a fee for Johnson to keep the club afloat. Ground ownership, new owner, player recruitment, team selection interference all mentioned. Sounds familiar!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61425957 So a big reason LJ joined us was so they would get some money off us. Nothing to do with it being a step up.
Wonder if John Sheridan owns the record for number of stints as manager at one club. He's in his 5th different spell.
Where does it say it was nothing to do with him wanting a step up? You get that it can be a mutually agreeable arrangement for both parties right?
Re Allen. 2 of those spells were for 3 games. 1 as caretaker, but I take your point. Still 5 stints though.
Me n'all lol. I allus say if I don't know summat " I know a man who knows." Google is the font of all knowledge. Googled Oldham fc and found some surprising facts.
In fairness to Oldham at the time, they were just outside the Play offs under Johnson when we started showing an interest in him. We beat them here and btw, it was the last win under Wilson, as he was sacked soon after.
Yeah but it was in Jan/Feb, not a good time for pitches lol. And when Wilson shook hands with Johnson at the end there, its like he was passing the torch over to him as the next manager.
