Yes Ian, he said it on the Andrew Marr programme, I think there were other occasions too.. whilst I agree he may be irrelevant now, he was the main man at the time... having said all that.I am receptive to the idea of material change in the situation as you point out above.
If they vote again the the good people of Scotland ( beautiful country) vote against it will NS want another vote? Just wondered.
I wouldn’t blame the Scottish people if they did vote to leave. Its very sad seeing all the division in the world. I firmly believe the route to more prosperous future is through great unity and corporation not further division. Sadly the British people did not agree in a a majority last time out.
Although I can understand the desire to separate from anything associated with Westminster, I’m struggling to see what actual benefits this would bring to the people of Scotland. Breaking up a 300 year union would be like Brexit on steroids.
If Scotland wants to leave the. Let them. But out of respect wait until the queen has died. After all these years service she wouldn't want to see the UK broken up. Let's pull the submarine base and associated jobs south of the that's 10000 jobs in total. There's no oil or gas left, Aberdeen is in early stages of decline. Can a population of about 6million really support itself. They won't be able to support a decent military let alone offer free university education or free NHS. They can't keep the British pound and all financial support stopped immediately upon leaving. I !ike the country itself just dislike the idiots that live up there. Independence for Yorkshire on the other hand, that's worth a proper conversation around a pint or 6.
If Scotland did leave the union I would imagine they would be welcomed into the EU so making it a better place than England to trade and have free access to move around Europe and live. I would bet a penny to a pound that most English people would be looking through their ancestry to find a Scottish ancester.
I’m deeply hurt by your comments. No idea how true these facts are but even if 50% is true I think we will survive.
Seen this many times posted in shop windows in Fort William. It reminds me of the NHS promises on the side of a Double Decker bus during the Brexit debate. Lets just keep the Kingdom United, and try and force change from within to make a more progressive/fairer society, not take our ball home cos I don't like the way its going!
Think the ball has been kicked too far down the road mate. The divisions seem to be deepening by the minute. I agree political posters are mostly somewhat lies just to get votes. My vote would be get more of the same or vote for a change. It’s and always has been a gamble.
Fair comment, would be a sad day if it happened in my opinion and for me personally spend many a happy hour North of the non existent border.
Some proper bellends showing their true colours (again) on here. I’d love to see data showing the correlation between pro-Brexit and anti-referendum sentiment.
There are some incredible posts in this thread. Maybe for transparency, those who are belittling and denigrating Scotland should maybe say if they voted for Brexit or not. Though actually... probably no need to. Good luck to Scotland getting their referendum and winning it. My only caveat of support is that you let me live there as and when you join the EU (if my clogs haven't been popped by then).
