thing is though, I'm not very confident that's how much we've got as a transfer fee. twits say 'deal worth around £2m'. that could mean a lot of things. sell on, appearances, league position, goals, etc. luton fans also generally saying they're nowhere near the market of spending 2m transfer fee. I wouldn't be surprised if any actual up front transfer fee is half that.

    I can accept that.

Their football forum layout however is trapped in the 1990s.

It won't be and I pointed this out last night. The total transfer fee may be £2m but I would suspect no more than £1m up front and with the remainder subject to appearance/performance based clauses.

What is wrong with Luton, we are a division 1 side whilst Luton are a championship outfit pushing for the premier league , I hate it when we disrespect other clubs who are doing things right , fair play to them .

Especially when we get on at other clubs for the 'teams like Barnsley' stuff. This is the exact same thing.

Luton are going about their business really well. Got promoted same season as we did under Stendel and haven't dropped out since and gradually built and built with very clever recruitment. Doing things the right way.

He does. They are physical weaknesses rather than skill level ones though.

His value is reduced by his injury record.

Sad to see him go if true - and I suspect it is - but all those moaning at the board - they are making the decisions to keep the club afloat. They always said we’d need to sell to plug the gap. I think we are likely to see Helik Styles and Collins all go too; but the early signings made, and their choice of new manager leads me to believe things have changed for the better. That doesn’t mean we can keep all our best players and walk the league, there is a financial hole to fill and I’m happy we have some resources to sell to do that - what it does mean is that we might actually all be on the same page about what the aims are, fans, board, coaching staff.

Luton ‘doing things the right way’ suggests we must be as well. They’ve certainly taken many of our ‘cast off’ players in the past. Problem now is that they are coming for our premium players.

Barnsley Market - You can always pick up a bargain !

Last time and the time before we had cash on the hip and didn’t have an efl loan to repay.

You’re comparing apples with oranges. We are in a much worse financial position on this occasion.

Make no mistake, without sales of assets the club is in a financial hole. I have no inside knowledge but just looking at the dwindling cash reserves on the books, the huge loss of income in league one and the known fact about the efl loan, it isn’t hard to deduce. The new regime have clearly stated we’d need to sell players.

Last season wasn’t just a mess on the pitch, it was a shambles off it too. The directors/boardroom coup didn’t happen just because we were relegated.

I agree that Luton are "doing it the right way". Or should I say, they aren't doing it our way.

What they have done that we categorically won't do, is bring in what we generally (we as in on here) term as experienced.

Ie, their scouting / Spreadsheet doen't have a filter on it that says " < 25 years old" or an additional column for potential resale value.

And, for some reason, some players they have brought in has genuinely raised my eyebrows. Because some players they have recruited, we seem to be of the opinion that we cannot afford their wages......

Luton facing competition in signing Morris from rival Championship Club.
My money would be on it being Middlesbrough, Wilder was mightily impressed with him when we beat them in the league last season.

Morris will want to be plying his trade at an higher level than League One and Luton seems a good fit, if successful he can become a big fish in little pond once more and maybe get hooked again for the Prem. The fee well if we weren`t in the financial situation we are in, and every club knows that, then I would be hoping for an higher fee but clubs have us over a barrel at the moment plus its another I presume larger wage off the books for us.

I'm surprised by the reaction to the transfer fee to be honest. I think Carlton Morris has been a great player for us, and could do well at Luton as he seems the type of player who would suit their style and ethos, and he's a player on the up rather than declining. Would have been interesting to see what he could do in a League One side, in an environment he knows, starting 35+ games.

But he's never hit double digits in a single season for any of the clubs he's played for, at any level. We picked him up for c. £200k only 18 months ago and we're moving him on for ten times that figure. The value of the player to us is not always what an opposing club is willing to pay.

    That it's being concluded swiftly.
