I couldn't see him in that video. Saw Cauley a few times though. Hope you have a good season :)

Paying debts off. No more, no less. Necessary steps due to rank mismanagement.

One thing is certain & that the £2 million was in the clubs favour being that was the fee the club received not Val but it's history & we are talking about it because of what Luton are trying to do, we did the opposite & have ended up relegated, I hope it goes the other way for Luton.

I would agree but for the fact that It’s not only us who know he’s injury prone, every manager in league 1 will know, and instruct their defenders accordingly.

Worked in the club’s favour financially for sure, worked in Val’s favour because it made everyone aware of what his availability would cost - meaning quick appointments could be made rather than drawn out negotiations, the risk of gardening leave, and a messy divorce.

    Wasn’t purely one way.

Morris was training at Barnsley on Monday morning. I saw him at the training session.

    Reported 17k?

    I've never seen it reported.

And not seen the 2 million reported for Morris either.

So you seem to get more info than the rest of us

The Morris story broke last night with the phrase 'in the region of £2m'. From a journo at the Telegraph I believe.

By reported I meant rumoured. From a couple of different sources.

I'm not digging at ya pal. I take your posts more seriously tbh given the position your in. Just find some of them more matter of fact than other folk and believable.

Think you mentioned that Woodrow definitely wasn't on 10k a week as well maybe last week.

So just noting that you seem more assured in your comments.

And being of the realm that nobody in here likely able to confirm that type of info.

Don't take it any other way, other than I was surprised at the 17k for mowatt. As I'd have thought that totally smashed whatever wage structure we did have in place. That's all

I think most people are reading ‘deal worth up to 2m’ as something very different to ‘transfer fee of 2m’

Only one way to really sort that.

It's only fans that are kept like mushrooms

Worth up to 2 million could well mean 50k up front, 1 million if they repeat play off and another million if they go up.

In reality next to naff all.

And clubs wonder why folk bang on about stuff

‘In a deal in the region of’. That really could mean anything, in terms of what we’re actually getting as an up front transfer fee.

Because they weren’t ran into the ground by an ownership group that didn’t give a flying **** about the club maybe?

But then, we could have accepted a small amount up front, with a higher amount to come in guaranteed instalments, as opposed to performance related clauses. If it was the latter, i would expect the fee to be reported as ‘up to…’

With it being in the region of, I’d take that to mean slightly less than 2m, but not too much less (say between 1.75-2), but guaranteed.

Ultimately we’ll likely never know. But the club will have a figure where it makes more sense to sell than to keep him, given his value on the balance sheet and the hole that we’re in.

I said Schmidt definitely wasn't signed for £1m. Woodrow was definitely on £10k a week though.

I was surprised the rumour went that high as well, but wasn't Conor offered £15k by Patrick to stay? Can definitely see it happening. The money spent on Benson could have contributed to the increase in the wage structure, and if you're going to get away with it with anyone it's your captain and POTY.

Ah right. Yes it was the Schmidt one. Still. Nobody on here knows the actual fee for him. It's still another "debate" that can easily be put to bed.

I had heard PC (not the pillock PC) mention he'd offered Conner personally to find his wages to 15k.

I've zero knowledge on what Benson cost or what he's paid. So again can't comment on that.

But I guess Alex knew what was coming. And I've no idea what he now gets either which is likely significantly more than what we offered

End of the day, if expectations need to be managed, than ultimately what I'm saying is, that information really ought to me more readily available.

This BBS has been dogged with it for years. But all we ever get is "undisclosed" or " interest in his future etc"

    It needs to change

It’s a small town. People see players and coaches at the gym, hairdressers, other places of interest. Some have relatives or connections at the club, and some know people in football who don’t work for Barnsley but have the odd bit of info.

You’ll never stop rumours and speculation mate. But sometimes you can sense whether something is a wild one worth ignoring, or deserves giving more credence to.

I don’t know exactly what we paid for Benson. But I know it could have funded the pay rise allegedly offered to Mowatt. I’m also pretty certain we didn’t pay over £1m for Patrick Schmidt.
