Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney aren't mucking about are they? Bet they have higher wage structures than a lot of league one clubs!
They may have but if paying £5k a week to Elliot Lee is anything to go by then they are clearly wasting some of their budget .
I agree, if they can get him on form from his initial move to Luton and the Oxford loan then I think he'll be a very decent player in that league... Not on 5k a week though!
No FFP in the National League so the whole league is mental. Makes it so hard to get out of because there’s 5 or 6 clubs with league one budgets and only 2 can go up.
Aye it's definitely mental, always makes me wonder how they get on when they are promoted and there is FFP - some of the wages are insane for that level of football
Same as when any other owner is finished playing with their toys... the fans are the ones left distraught
When was the last time there were four welsh teams in the football league? It must have been the season of the original Newport County’s demise, back in the 1980s.
They're no bigger than us at best.. there best realistic hope would be championship. And there's no money to be made in that league as we know.. Ether bankrolled or sell to survive are the only options
Wrexham were a big club back in the day. I'm sure they can garner a good level of support. That amount of money for Elliot Lee seems crazy though, not sure that may be a correct figure. May include bonuses, which he may, or may not achieve. Who knows. I used to like Wrexham's skermishes in the Cup Winners Cup back in the day. More of a proper team than Cardiff or Swansea IMO.
Similar to Salford when they signed Adam Rooney from Aberdeen and were paying him 5 or 6k per week. Ridiculous.
I like their kit, its similar to ours lol. But as with all clubs who are being bankrolled, Im sure they know it won't last forever and then the whole thing is in danger of collapsing. Ive got little or no sympathy for clubs who do buy success though, when it all goes wrong.
I remember Eliott Lee being slated whilst he was with us. I don't recall him playing very much, and when I checked, he actually only played about 45 minutes of football for us. He was an injury time sub twice, and 85th minute sub twice, and a 75 minute sub twice. I think he was signed to try and keep his mate George happy, but never really got a fair crack of the whip here. I guess he's not had an outstanding career, so you could say we were justified in letting him go. But why sign him at all.
