These people were high ranking Taliban soldiers in Hellmand province . As anyone read the full article yet?
Claimed he doesn’t vote Labour yesterday because of a war criminal PM. Literally a day later claims war crimes don’t matter. I can’t get my breath
so because they were high ranking, summary execution with no trial is ok? The Nazis used to have a similar (shoot first ask questions later law (Kommandobefehl) that was used on SAS troops in world war 2. It was a war crime then and is still a war crime now. You do not shoot prisoners of war.
You leftist lot on here really do get yourself a in a real frenzie ! Not one of you could do the job the SAS or our great armed forces have or ever done !
is now a good time to mention im left leaning (if that’s got anything to do with anything here) and served for over 30 years in the armed forces.
A) You don't have to be "leftist" to believe in justice. B) While there will always be grey areas and things that happen in the heat of battle can you honestly read what has been said and think that they weren't just shooting on sight and cooking up alibis after the event. Very similar alibis. C) If we were invaded by Russia and their special forces burst into your house in the middle of the night and killed members of your family would you be happy? I very much doubt it. To be honest I think you're probably living in the wrong country.
Yes. Have you. ?. The targets were high ranking Taliban under a kill or detain policy. But many innocents were apparently killed. A judge led inquiry into the actions of some Australian forces found credible evidence to support the fact innocents were killed. You may say the killing of innocents are sometimes one of the consequences of war and that's true. But reading the full report. It's not as simple as that. 10 people killed in an hotel. Where only 3 weapons (AK47s) were found. Suggesting 3 or less terrorists. Most lying dead on the ground with bullets suggesting they were shot whilst prone. Not something you'd expect from a terrorist unless surrendering.
"Several sources who were involved in selecting targets for special forces operations told the BBC that there were grave problems with the intelligence behind the selection process, meaning civilians could easily end up on a target list." Yes, killing innocent civilians, apart from being a war crime, really helps win the hearts and minds doesn't it? Worked so well for the Japanese in East Asia, the Germans in Europe, The Americans in Vietnam, the British in Northern Ireland......
