I think you're wrong, Lyth has never captained T20 and hes no clue how to defend a total, Lancashire have history of getting over 200.
Apologies yes Lyth looks like he's in the bowlers ear but again first go at it the field setting and bowling choices look erratic
Weak captaincy has cost us, we can point to missing Root, Willey, Rashid but captain should be able to defend 204, awful to learn that lesson on Finals day.
I thought it would make sense giving one day captaincy to Thompson when Willey has been missing. It would have been a precursor for next season Brook and Willey may be missing for Royal London games this season with England call ups
Ha! That post didn’t age well did it? Was expecting more from Shadab and Bess, and the seamers didn’t bowl many slower balls. That first over from Revis pretty much negated Thompson’s innings in the space of 4 balls. And Willey was a big miss.
Do you think it was a poor call to bat too? To me on a flat motorway like that you want to be chasing?
That Lyth front foot no ball just summed up an appalling performance today. A slow dibbley dobbley bowler oversteps!! Should forfeit his match fee just for that and a captain he is NOT.
If we'd have bowled like we did we'd have needed loads more in a chase than we got, under more pressure!
They were never defending that, it’s an absolute road. They needed a better last over or two and get to 215-220, even that would arguably have been only par with a stick dry, lightning quick outfield and a concrete pitch. 204 sounds a lot but I don’t think it was ever enough to pressure lancs, who were a batter down too. Shame, but batting was the wrong call. Always chase on pitches like that. Them being a batter down would have left them maybe starting a bit cautiously too had they had first knock.
