It's only same as our owners not putting the £7 million we're short out of their own pocket. What happens if they don't recoup the £7 million? Will they put the club up for sale of put it into admin? I find our situation not so far off a club in admin if I'm being honest.
Apparently the FFP rules have been scrapped by UEFA and a 70% spend limit on revenue introduced. Can anyone ( in simple terms ) state the current limits on spending for the EFL ? If a club goes into liquidation and debts get written off, does all previous expenditure become history ? I am referring to Derby
Even some of the clubs the level below that as well now. Who's the Aston Villa kid being touted around for £25m because he won't sign a contract extension? Southampton paying £15m for Man Citeh youngsters who've never played for the first team as well.
Playing first-team football and a player's talent and ability aren't connected. Don't understand why Barnsley fans are obsessed with games played. you will find a lot of footballers at 22 that have played more than 97 league games which Fodens played. You'll not find many with the talent and ability. John Stones played 222 league games. Again a lot of footballers have played more league games than Stones but they don't have the talent and ability.
But Phil Foden will also continue to improve because of appearances and experience. Tbf you seem equally obsessive, in your refusal to acknowledge the importance of experience. He might have raw talent, but he doesn’t have league football experience. He will be exposed without it and will develop as a play through having it.
Apparantly on £26k pw. The clubs agree to what the make up of what that would be. Could be 100% paid by the parent club it seems.
I'm not sure he will continue to improve. I think he might be reaching his peak now. I guess it's now long can he stretch out that peak. Maybe for 10 years maybe for more. it could be less. Having listened to a Podcast with Micheal Owen he talked about his peak. He said he hit that at teenage years. 17 maybe was the start of the decline. Alfie Mawson. is 28 years old. Been effectively finished for 3 years.
Jamil Adam is now 31 and plays for Flint Town United fc. Kern Miller is 30 and now plays for Skegness Town.
Because games played is proof that the talent and potential can transition to proper first team football. I don't understand why Barnsley fans are obsessed with Premier League youngsters when the percentage of those who actually make it at all levels of the football league is pretty small.
Raheem Sterling was picked for England after playing something like 3 games for Liverpool. If Games played don't matter to Roy Hodgson or Gary Neville why should fans care. A lot of these players get picked at an International level before really playing club football. Hannibal Mejbri for examples played double the international games than first team games at Manchester United. It must be about Talent and ability
Hannibal Mejbri represents Tunisia. I'd hazard a guess that it's a damn site harder to get into the Man Utd first team than Tunisia's.
Point well made. Same for Barnsley when we look at players. It's easier to play for Tranmere than Manchester United for example so why do fans care about games played? Would that Tranmere player play at Manchester United? of course not. He wouldn't even get through the reception door 99.99% of the time.
We're not Manchester United though are we? James Norwood played for Tranmere. Scored a shed load of goals for them. Developed and proved himself and went on to be a Championship striker. If he'd been with us last season we'd probably have fared somewhat better.
You think Phil Foden hit his peak at 17? I would suggest anyone claiming that, Michael Owen included, is talking nonsense.
I think he was referring to Michael Owens peak. So hes saying Owen started to decline as soon as he burst onto the scene.
17/18. He said he started to decline. Not my words but that of someone that would know better than you or I? The words of Micheal Owen.
Well he was wrong about himself. Early 20s to mid 20s were his peak years then serious injuries affected him the resr of his career.
