I once took out sone insurance on my dishwasher. If I didn't claim I think I got half my money back. Just before yhe 5 years was up the company went bankrupt. Over the course of the next few years I received cheques for the odd five pound here and there. Thought the admin and postage would be as much as I received back!
Tbf it’s hard to take owt Owen says seriously anymore after some of the bangers he’s said in the last few years… Owen should be more concerned atm about his daughter getting banged on national telly!
Back on point (seeing as another thread has been hijacked back this complete idiot) I agree with the O.P. It's a complete disgrace what Derby are being allowed to do. Their wage bill must be obscene. Makes you wonder what the point is in FFP.
Any business dealing with DCFC on anything - grub, drinks, electricians, St John's etc - should insist on payment,in full, up front. I bet they don't though.
If I was asked at what age did a player reach his peak, I would define that to mean when his achievements were at the peak. Owen got the wonder goal against Argentina when he was just 18 and he got the Ballon D’or when 22, and an excellent Liverpool career to follow. Surely he can’t say he was at his peak when he was 16/17 ? Does he interpret the question to mean when he could run fastest etc ?
Ask Phil Foden himself, or anyone of the coaches or sports scientists around him, if they think he peaked at 18 and has been in decline since. They will also tell you Michael Owen is talking boll0cks, if that is what he’s said.
I'm not sure why you are mentioning Foden. I was just using that player as an example of a player that might have hit their peak. Neymars another. At what age did he hit his peak? Micheal Owen was talking about Micheal Owen. As someone above said I might be out on the age. He might have mentioned a few ages himself. If I can I'll find where I got it from. It was from a podcast.
Fair dos. The way you wrote it, read to me like you were suggesting that you and Michael Owen thought Phil Foden peaked at 17/18. Was against a backdrop of this narrative you seem to have, that experience is irrelevant, so it’s to be expected that you’re going to be challenged on that. But yes agreed, went off point a little. To bring it back to the point I was trying to make though, which was that experience is critical to development, and the only way that comes is through appearances in competitive football.
Flipping got it. ''I was voted the best player in the world at 21 when I was 20% down on two or 3 years before''. We had a great season but no question about it I was on the decline at 21. Thats where I got the 17/18 from which 21 minus 3 = 18. The more I listen to things like that from people that actually know the stuff. The more I don't get the age thing with some and games played. In it he says he wishes people watched him at 11 years old. The Greatest game with Jamie Crragher. 14 Micheal Owen. https://open.spotify.com/episode/46rbFX9kENLmY8x9d7HThA
You’re choosing edge cases. Everyone else is discussing the other 99% of cases across competitive world football.
Derby County topic ruined by someone trying to prove a point about Michael Owen. Anyway when is the Tyson Fury v Nicola Adams fight?
His early peak is due to him being hobbled by injuries and isn't reflective of experience not having value.
