Derby are cheats who have left local businesses and the taxpayer significantly out of pocket. The notion that their business model should be aspired to is daft.
Like most of our team he was brilliant under Ismael, and then poor under last season's 'management' duo. I would've backed him to have been an important player for us this season in League One. Hopefully there'll be a replacement lined up because I wouldn't trust Jordan Williams to be playing regularly with his injury record.
Jordan Williams has been outstanding for us as a third centre back. I really don’t want to see him played as a wing back when he’s much better defensively than offensively. A few have said he was a good RCB but I’m pretty confident nearly all his appearances as a centre back came with him playing as a LCB. Either way he’s very good at it & I’d like to see him stay there. If we sell Brittain we need a new RWB in my opinion.
That's why I update my "Comings & Goings" post on a regular basis, based on the Official site's First Team Squad. A few weeks ago, Helliwell and Winfield were in my post, but now they're not, as they are now reflected on the U23 Squad page. I'm sure my update will change more before the final first team squad is finalized.
I really rate Callum and very disappointed at this. Think he would have made a huge impact at L1 I guess it’s Collins , Helik and Styles to go now
Strange lot football fans. Celebrating the loss of a player clearly good enough to attract a lot of interest at a higher level. He will either not be replaced at all or by some Random from the spreadsheet. If we have to sell for financial reasons it’s fair enough but let’s not present it as some sort of triumph that we will be starting next year without any of our better plays left with the ones no one wants and kids. It is what it is but not exactly a foundation for success. A team shorn of Helik Brittain Styles Woodrow Morris Unless we sign some quality replacements ready to hit the ground running is closer to a bottom 6 team than a top 6 one. At the minute we are relying on the goal scoring might of Devante Cole. Can’t say that fills me with optimism as we have a midfield that would struggle to score 10 between them. Their will undoubtedly be twists and turns before the season starts so we will have to see but flogging all your half decent players is nothing to celebrate.
Blackburn right back Ryan Nyambe has joined Wigan from Blackburn on a free after his contract ended. Clearly a position they need strengthening then.
Struggling to think of what I’ll miss about Brittain leaving us other than the constant disappointment of his final cross /shot / pass etc .
Exactly the same people own the club. so are you saying there has been a changed in ownership or are you referring to the principal shareholder switching its proxy vote? Two issues obviously they could swap that back tomorrow and Do you genuinely think showing owning 38% of a pretty small company doesn’t have a major say in what that company does? If so I have a bridge to sell you.
indeed as were the other 25228 players that currently form our reserve reserve reserve team. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Continually flogging your better players off definitely doesn’t.
@Marc A quick summary of the finances is that the club is staring down a financial black hole. Last time in division one operational losses were £4.2m, these losses were sustained by cash on the balance sheet and the sale of Brad Potts. The wage bill was around £10m. We go in to the current season with debt of over £3m (EFL loan), minimal cash, a wage bill of £14m and likely revenue of around £7m. To square off the books this year the club will need to reduce the wage bill to c£8m and raise around £6m in transfer fees. That is just to fund the club for the year.
