Just read an article about Luke Jones wishing to stay at Barnsley FC this season. I hope he does and things work out for him. I did feel a bit sorry for him with the 'problems' he had/has. In the preseason friendlies he has performed well and perhaps under M Duff he could come good at last. Surely he will respond better to MDuff rather than the Bristol Rovers manager whose name I forget... JB

He's looked really impressive with us, I hope he does stay and cements a place in the first XI

I’d be happy with this tbf. He has a bit of quality about him and we’re not exactly over blessed with it. Needs to find an end product though.

Don't rate him in the position he plays. Reckon he'd make a decent wingback though. Some of the best wingbacks we've had started as wingers/wide midfielders - Robinson, Beresford, Archdeacon. Machin would certainly turn him into a wingback. He may be forced to play there now we've sold Brittain, which could turn out to be a huge positive.

Yeah lets send him to a team like Luton, for a £100 lol.

I hope he can settle down here and learn from the new management team, I think in the long run that would suit him better than playing for the likes of Joey Barton!!.

Decent call this - especially in league one where defensive duties may not be as necessary - ie Toby Cavare a few years ago

I agree with this. One thing I've always rated about Luke Thomas is his ability to track back and put in a tackle. Although he was running at players and beating them the other night, which was refreshing to see, as its been a while since we've had a wide player do that.

I reckon the defensive duties are Thomas' strength.

Luke doesn’t necessarily want to leave, however is hesitant to do so as he’s unsure as to whether he will be in the gaffers plans considering his preferred system.

You'd think if he was staying he'd have to sign a new deal at some point being in the last year of his contract.

He’s probably one of our better players at running with the ball but it’s the old problem with players like him is that his final pass or shot often let’s him down and that’s why he’s in division one and not at a top end champ club.

Think he might still end up with rent-a-gob down in Bristol, but I like him and it would be some story for him to have overcome all his problems and be the scoring threat we've missed in midfield. Lets face it Benson for Beds and Shredded wheat hair Herbie Piri Piri walking Kane ain't going to be knocking many in. He could definitely play in a 3 in midfield behind a striker - in "the hole".
