i remember getting laid cos of it with some random Barnsley fan from Milton Keynes but also getting threatened with a kicking by Radders. I definitely deserved the latter if not the former.
i ran a very random player of the season competition pre premiership which was decided on stuff like best hairstyle or looked at me when scoring.
I don’t know if it was b@ll@cks or not but I remember a bloke who seemed to post from prison and used to regularly threaten people with GBH
Started out on the email list about 94 i think and then we got the bbs. Been on every inception of it. be knocking on 30 years soon eeeek.
Yeah I remember him think that was ********. Plankton Pete’s brother offered me a very deserved kicking but instead we had a pint and forgot about it.
Can't remember when I joined, but I was on it before Tommy Tyke was ousted. Can anybody recall when that was?
I’ve been on here since 13/14 when I got my first desktop PC, which would have been 96/97. Back when it was very, very basic, came with a chat room, and an amazing lady called Yankee Tyke was a regular contributor from the US.
Officially I’ve been on here 14 years, but the truth blows that out of the water with its various incarnations…. Not that I’ll break any records amongst you illustrious folk…
I first started reading and posting on the previous version run by a group including the now infamous Tommy Tyke when we went into Administration. So that would have been oct or Nov20 2002 so I’m coming up to 20 years but as others have said versions of it go back much further. This incarnation goes back to when @Gally set it up in July 2005 when most posters didn’t want to be on a site run by T Tyke. Time flies
Was reading the BBS for about 5 years before I registered to post. Had read Tykes Mad or whatever it was as well & realised there was only one forum that had a majority of interesting posters. Sadly a few good ones are on sabbatical these days, but there are loads of great people on here now & a few wind up merchants. Free speech is good, but you can block people if you want. I won't block Hemsey, as he clearly has issues, it is the folks who post semi racist stuff, or abusive stuff I have to block. Think I started posting in 2012 & have posted some right ***** at times.
Now you mention it, I remember using the forum during the 96/7 promotion season, I seem to remember that it had to be moved to a new platform which would have been in 2005, hence why my account was "created" then. So maybe we're looking at a 30th Anniversary....
I have just checked out my profile and I’ve been a member on here for over 9 years. Been a great experience talking with most of you other posters and I must say I’ve met some absolutely great people when I have made the effort to visit.
Started reading BBS around 2000/1 I’ve mostly been a reader, I don’t think I first posted for many years, I’ve been on and off posting and only recently finding time to get back into it after a 5 year reading only period. It’s a bit weird because most of you are very familiar names to me, having enjoyed reading your conversations for years I feel like I know most of you, but I imagine I seem new to everyone. Just realised I sound like a stalker?! Anyway, love this place, good quality topics filled with *mostly* sensible kind people
Memory's fading but I believe I joined in the early 1920s when it was still Amos the Donkey's Dais for Debate and updates were sent via second class post. Can still remember arguing with Hemsworth Sr on why signing all of Glossop North End's U21 side would be a bad idea.
I remember at one time there being a daytime set and then another team who came on in the evenings. Dirk Hartog, Full Ponty, Cazi, Paul D ( The stats man); the infamous Tommy Tyke were all posters when I started on the old site under the user name Robespierre. Remember joining in the "True fan" debate after TT was one of the few who went to Luton Town. What a first class ******** he was irrespective of his criminality.
