"Inspired by the town's mining heritage. Er... yeah... ok.Reminded me that I need a new rear tyre. If the brief was 'come up with a strip inspired by our mining heritage' I'd go for an all black one. Keep it simple.
Well, I think its absolute tom-tit. But what if the players start winning some away games in it, will it start to look 'better' then ? lol.
I can't see that we'd need a 3rd shirt, unless we get drawn away to Bournemouth in one of the cups. Having said that, under no circumstances did we need one last season, but we got the white one. Lovely shirt, but completely superfluous.
I'd forgotten about that Man U horror show. They looked like a team of zebras. The Forest Green one is pretty terrible in my opinion as well. Looks like a monochrome tiger.
I thought that was a good kit, plain white with slight red trim, and we actually won away from home in it once lol. Id have preferred that to the ghastly green to be honest. But the problem is both of them clash with Stoke and Sheff Ure for example, in their red n white stripes.
We've had some cr*p kits down the years but this is up there with the worst of them. Must have been designed by Lenny Peters.
First impressions are that I'm not a big fan. It might grow on me I suppose when I see it properly. I liked the home kit though and others said they didn't. You aren't going to please everyone, unfortunately. I probably won't buy either but I do quite like the look of some of the retro polo shirts that were on the club website. Meant to go and have a look on open day but then never got a chance.
I find it wretched, vile, detestable, hideously awful, utterly offensive to the eye and dripping in a cheapness utterly at odds with the outrageous premium that has been placed upon acquiring such a revolting, headache inducing mess. On balance then, it’s a no from me.
I wouldn't advise going "round town" in any football top on a evening you wouldn't get in any pubs would be one obvious and very annoying problem.
Not my cup of tea but young Alfie loves it which is alot more important as he is the one that will purchase it as I'm not a fan of chubby 50 somethings wearing replica shirts.
A plus point for trying to do something a bit different. A minus point for doing so and then making a dog's breakfast of it.
It's all subjective of course. My simple opinion of both kits is they are dreadful and more than anything, they look so cheap. Probably made even worse that we don't even have a sponsor, which given our international business people, I'm struggling to get my head around, but anyway.... I don't know how long the Puma deal has to go, but my instincts would be to try and be radically different and given we now have a known investor and director at the club who has a business and career in fashion and working with young people to give them opportunity, there must surely be mileage in getting her to create a process where she is involved in this area? I'd much rather (if possible) get young eager designers to look at our kit with completely fresh eyes, give a brief and design something unique, grounded and interesting and could kick start someones career each season. She must have access to manufacturers too, so going completely off piste and away from the huge uncaring faceless sports brands in my view is more in an ethos of what we should be doing.
Yes, I can't quite fathom what's going on with the invisible seam in the middle of the Man Utd effort. I wonder if Sir Alex Ferguson would blame any defeats on the kit like he did when they got mullered at Southampton!
Someone wore that shirt at five a side last week. When they scored I complained I couldn’t see the through back as the assist came from someone who was invisible!
