First women’s game I’ve watched in quite a while and was so impressed with every single one of them. Well done the Lionesses.
Started watching this at the knockout stages and have watched all the quarter finals and now this semi and really enjoying all the games. Tonight’s was something else. Don’t think either France or Germany will be overconfident on Sunday. Don’t care which we get but I think tomorrows game will be worth watching as well
I've watched every England game apart from the opener. From what I've seen we'll beat either of those two sides comfortably. This England squad has so much depth, and a manager who lets them play with freedom, to their strengths. That's a winning combination.
From the ganes I watched the Best team I have seen were Spain and we somehow managed to win that. Sweden allegedly 2nd in the World but they struggled in their last game as well so not sure their ranking is that accurate France look pretty good but not clinical in front of goal - Thats us and also the Germans. For sure we will go in to the game on Sunday believing we can win but lets see. Must admit I'm impressed with our Manager - wonder if she wants to take over from Southgate and have a go at the mens team next
They were great and must be favourites for Sunday. Earps, Bronze, Daly, Williamson, Mead, Kirby, Russo we’re all outstanding. But they’ve come out of the blocks very slowly in the QF and SF games. They need to look at that as they really rode their luck the first 20 minutes and that luck might just run out of it happens again. Horrid goalkeeping from the Swedish lady made the score very flattering. That said they’ve just won 4-0 so don’t want to complain too much! Agree with the comments about Wiegman, her substitutions are incredible and the little tweaks following poor starts certainly did the trick. We could do a lot worse than Norwood and Russo up front!
I had to turn over as it was too titivating for me after all the recent shelter I've experienced at Oakwell
Brilliant performance! I started watching women's football during the 2012 Olympics when they were under " Team GB " and let's hope that another home tournament that led to even more fans following the team.
There was some debate in a thread on here recently about teh men vs women's game and the fact that women could not compete equally with men at elite /professional levels in physical sports like football . Statistically that is proven fact. However, skill, commitment, lack egos, and for the moment, the absence of 'big money' but above all the entertainment levels that has been provided during this tournament have surpassed many international ones in recent times. I have no doubt that win or lose in the final, this tournament has completely changed most people's perception of Women's soccer. This is evidenced by huge increase in the number of men and boys attending rather I have not seen much as Italian TV has not provided much coverage as far as I am aware, but the little I have seen has certainly changed my view. I genuinely believed given the stature (or rather lack ) of goalkeepers in the womens game they should reduce the size of the goal by a small percentage having, in the past seen goals being scored (particularly lobs and chips that an average male goalkeeper with bigger 'reach' would easily have saved. I can see now , that view is basically irrelevant and a nonsense . It is just part of the game whicjh an astute coach and player can exploit. They say 'success breeds success'. I only hope this does not translate into the big money entering the arena and poisoning what is, for now a refreshing, relatively genuine and innocent era of football . Equal pay given increasing numbers of bums on seats should IMO mean the men's game has more competition and the ludicrous pay footballers agents etc receive (making POTD tickets and STs grossly overpriced. should come down, rather than tickets for the women's game becoming grossly inflated. For sheer entertainment, who can argue some of the recent performances have not on par, or even exceeded, watching games with the likes of Ronaldo playing) Just my opinion. The 'beautiful game' has resurfaced in an unexpected place.
I have watched quite a few womens league games this year. However i only recognised how much i had watched when i realised that i knew quite a bit about the players in the squad. Thats where i see our strength. We have a quality first 11 but so much quality and options from the bench. Right now Plan A and at 65 mins plan B has worked. Im convinced there is also a Plan C and D that Wiegman has up her sleeve. She should be the mens head coach.
Seen bits of the WPL last season and was amazed at the quality last time I saw women’s football was like kids but the game has really advanced, think the team last night would wipe the floor with our team.
It's been a great tournament all round. I've commentated on quite a few WPL matches and I've always been impressed with the standard. I've been volunteering for UEFA at the New York stadium and it's been a brilliant atmosphere.
Considerably so!!! Why should my upbringing bear any relevance that generally speaking men are far superior physically to women and that our under 16s who are having the benefit of great coaching would be too strong for England ladies at that stage in their development?
