Coming back to TV next year! I grew up on Gladiators in the 90s and look back at those years fondly. I once asked my dad how John Fashanu had managed to get back to Birmingham so quickly as he'd been at Oakwell during the day, and was presenting Gladiators in Birmingham an hour later.
If it’s being filmed in an arena as opposed to a TV studio like the Sky 1 version then it might be as good as the original.
Can you remember those events Jet used to specialize in? They were always my favorite. The hand/eye coordination needed was immense. Bet you needed it actually take part, too...
My bairns used to watch it, i used to work on doors wi James Crossley [ HUNTER ] in York, Merlins McMillans, great times, really nice guy.
I used to work with a guy who lived a couple of doors down from him in York. He said he'd never met him, but often saw women leaving his house early in the morning.
To be filmed in Sheffield so presumably it'll be at the arena. I actually saw it at the arena in the 90s. Bit sure whether it was a televised one, but they did do tours of the UK I believe.
Nick Aldis was the main gladiator when they brought it back. He came across as very cheesy with his 'trash talking'. Unsurprisingly, he's gone on to have a pretty good wrestling career in America.
He was'nt really a shagger, he was an ok guy but wen he used to go art on a satdi neight it used to cause a fuss, a bit like Barnsley wen that Sam went art after X factor
I guess gladiator to wrestler makes sense as a career path, there can't be that many other jobs where the key skillsets are pantomime acting and taking industrial amounts of steroids
