I’ve been fortunate enough to get tickets for what will be a huge event in Women’s football. I can’t wait. Over the past few weeks I’ve read some utter nonsense about the game, women, finance, support, pricing etc. I’ve also never felt more proud as a supporter of English football. (Mens or Womens) I totally get that Women’s football isn’t for everyone. No problem. All I’d say is that if you can’t support it, please don’t join the idiots trying to undermine it. Just think how you would feel / recover if the sport you loved was banned for 51 years. Women and girls have been held back for too long .
I have to be honest, fired, I have been guilty of finding women’s football rather boring. I once described it as a slow motion and sloppy version of men’s Sunday league football. I honestly don’t know what has changed, but this tournament has been absolutely thrilling edge of your seat stuff. The standard of football is absolutely fantastic and I am genuinely more excited about Sunday’s final than I was about the mens version, last year. I watched Germany vs France on Wednesday and throughout the whole game, I just had a strong feeling that ‘we’ could beat either of those two in the final, especially after we dismantled Sweden who, I believe, are ranked No.2 in the world. And that Russo, who always comes off the bench, just manages to raise the tempo from very good to very exciting every time.
100%, this. You can just feel the passion, determination, ferocity, excitement and the will to win from our ladies - it's been fantastic to watch Hope you have a cracking day, Fired. Come on you Lionesses
I havent watched much women's football until this tournament but I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it has been a breath of fresh air in many ways. Enjoy the day Fiona. It should be cracking. Would love to be there!
Football skills aside, anyone noticed how the women neither pretend to be injured nor argue with the referee? That alone has made me a convert. It’s like rugby meets football and puts the men to shame.
Not too far from my own feelings tbh. The Women’s game is improving all the time. And Russo has been tremendous.
Hope you have a great day and I hope the mens Germany jinx doesn’t carry over to the women because I truly believe we are the far better team.
On Tuesday evening, I watched the game in a pub in a town far away, on my own. I coach a girls team, and have been glued to this remarkable journey of our national team since day 1. My daughter even went to bloody Old Trafford for the first game without me (will never forgive!) At the end of the game on Tuesday some chump came in spouting the usual misogynistic **** about why anyone would want to watch women play football. I took him down (verbally of course), highlighting the strengths of the game and suggested he might educate himself a little, to which others in the pub started clapping while laddo sidled out without buying a drink. The next morning I got in a taxi, and the first thing the driver said to me was "did you see that game last night." We then spent a 15 min journey discussing women's football. It's a small sample, but both of these events prove to me that this tournament has been a phenomenal success, not just for the team but in changing the whole attitude to women's football, which is long overdue. I can only hope that we'll see the benefits of this long beyond the tournament, regardless of the result on Sunday. @fired I hope you have a fantastic day. I haven't been lucky enough to get tickets, but have hired a room so my team of 12 girls and their parents can watch the game together and take yet more inspiration from this fantastic team - win or lose they're absolute idols to my girls. To anyone who hasn't watched so far, please watch on Sunday. I promise you'll be thrilled.
After missing her at tramlines, you'll also get the opportunity to see Becky Hill tomorrow too! She was brilliant last weekend.
Enjoy the day and the event, they don’t come round often enough in this country. I’m sure it will put on a show to the world that the UK can put on a first class tournament without the spoiling. Here hoping them pesky Germans don’t spoil it for us.
Have watched and thoroughly enjoyed all the England matches. As a Taff I have great difficulty supporting the England men's team whoever they are playing. But am 100% behind the Lionesses - and wish them all the best for tomorrow - have a good day Fired!
Hope you have a great day Fiona - to echo what others have said Ive really enjoyed all the games I watched not just the England games but the ones I watched as a complete neutral In fact for one weekend only if only one of the 2 matches I care about this weekend can finish with a win I'd actually take an England Win over the Reds and I never would type that for the mens team. Obviously both would be great though

fantastic role models for young girls! Come on ladies ⚽️ …..Bring some feel good time to the country….god knows we need it
Fiona, going back to when we used to play at break times at Holgate, had you been a year younger I’d have been pushing for you to be in the school team. Our year was rubbish, we could have done with you
