Manager called it, sold players for money, bought replacements for nothing, some of which were late incoming so not fully fit and we now wait for the Premier League clubs to decide which youngsters can go out on loan to League 1 which given 5 subs and Paint Trophy playing U21s will be the greenest of the green. Haven't renewed and feel nothing has encouraged me to change my mind, dont blame the manager at all think he's the right calibre but the squad is unbalanced we've too many defenders and not enough creative players and goalscorers. Still disenfranchised sorry but manager appointment aside, new board looks just as bad as the old one.
They can’t even find a sponsor so I’m not that confident they’ll manage to find a hidden gem of a striker to save the day. The club certainly doesn’t have the cash to splash on one and the owners seemingly aren’t willing to roll the dice on a proven player at this level. I’m not sure being that risk averse is the best strategy in football. The club is in a real mess and our ownership model relies on income from players that increase their value when playing for us with very little initial outlay, but for that to work they need to be part of a successful, confident team, and we’re nowhere near that at the minute - the longer it goes on the worse it will get. With no passionate owner willing to dig deep into their own pockets, there’s only one direction the club can go. If they can steady the ship this season then things might get a bit better with a more settled team. My fear is that they’ve cut their cloth a little too much and us fans will be left pinning all our hopes on a squad that isn’t quite good enough. I’m not advocating a spend, spend, spend culture, nor do I want the club to be laden with debt, but right now it feels like there’s more chance of us dropping to the fourth tier and that would be much more catastrophic. We’ll never be self-sufficient if we’re constantly bouncing between different leagues - the margins are too drastic, but if the owners are happy to take dividends from the club when we’re doing well, they should also be willing to put some money in when we aren’t.
There was a lot of interviews when Conway n co were banished from the board. But its gone very quiet since.Cant be the early bird season ticket has now ended can it?
Same owners. As I said when I chose not renew, I'm willing to give them time to change however I will not be parting with my cash until they tempt me back. Primarily showing that the priority at Oakwell is winning games of football. In all fairness the club is a shambles and for the majority of the last 20 years it has been run on a shoestring and often poorly managed. It will take some time to actually change, I don't belive it will but I hope it does.
I just can't believe the comments on here. One match in and we are at it again - moaning, 'we are going nowhere', 'club in a mess', 'can't find a sponsor', blah, blah. Will you listen to yourselves - you're supposed to be fans! Of course, it's in a mess after Conway and his friend and family trashed the club. What did we expect today a performance by champions? It's going to take time and patience from us, for the club and the board to get the club anywhere like. Everyone hoped for better things today, but we are where we are. Let's just get behind the club and acknowledge that before we start slagging the club off.
Why is someone not a fan if they have a different opinion to you? We all have opinions and opinions are subjective. Regardless of the result today, it’s blindingly obvious that the club IS struggling financially and that the ownership model in place is questionable - a win today wouldn’t change MY opinion on that.
They have been utterly negligent with the forward players they have decided to start the season with. Cryne and Parekh - we should start calling them Truss and Sunak, as theyre great at pretending they were nothing to do with the previous **** show that got us into the hole we're in.
Yeah fans that are fed up of being conned by last year's board and this year's board .It is my money and until they prove to me they are any different they will not be getting a penny of it sorry
Club has been in a bit of a mess for around 20 years now. It's no slagging anyone off to acknowledge that. Patrick Cryne described himself as "a owner of last resort". He ran the club very much along those lines. Yes he put money in and kept us going however ambition was very low. Up until now it has seemed very clear our owners now want to make money off the club without putting any in. Even to the point of using the clubs own money to pay for the purchase. We'll see what happens next.
Don’t think ambition was low. He just kept us going and left us in a far healthier position than we are these days.
It was much the same to my mind a couple of relegations and promotions. Club run on a absolute shoe string. Ground left to fall into a state of disrepair. Players sold off first time a bid came in. Patrick Cryne cared about the club, had the resources to own it and did what he thought was best. I have no ill will towards his tenure but I also don't look back on it with Rose tinted glasses. I agree he left us in a healthier postion than we are now, sadly his final act has to sell the club on to these charlatans.
Conman can't be blamed forever. He's gone and we should be thankful. He's not the reason open day wasn't open, we don't have a shirt sponsor, we haven't got any decent strikers and Duff will probably end up walking out if they don't back him.
By god, this board is such a dull, dreary place, full of dull dreary lovely people. Reacting to a setback like a bunch of 6 year olds Yeah today was ****, but the change in tone on here since yesterday is pathetic.
