I noticed after the game today that Duff admitted we lost out to Plymouth on Azaz, so I had a quick look on Google at him. Turns out he played under Duff at Cheltenham in 20/21. I’m sick to death of Khaled, who is turning out to be one the most Incompetent CEO’s of recent times. He can’t even sell the club and get the deal over the line for a player who had a successful season with our head coach. There was a time, particularly during the time we signed Mawson, where I felt we could trump most clubs at our level, selling the stepping stone, development plan. Now I have zero confidence of us doing so.
Thought Duff said we lost out on him due to the Plymouth boss pulling in favours from his old m8 Gerrard?
Didn't we also get Cadden, Connell & Norwood over the line despite other clubs being interested? We can't just slate the guy for things we're not happy with, we've got to congratulate him when he does do a good job. Everyone has cliques and 'friends' within the game. We've probably benefitted from it plenty of times, someone knowing someone and getting favourable treatment. Their left flank today was brilliant.
Personally not even sure why he named dropped this. So what’s he saying we lost because a player he wanted to sign scored the goal?
I kind of agree.. but as we all know and Duff himself as said in interviews.. that we have to work within a budget.. Give him the rest of the window to see what happens both in and out.. But I don't think it's too dramatic to say that the fortunes of our season may be hanging on this next four weeks.
It might be all down to wages, it doesn’t matter how good a CEO you are if the other club is offering a player a better deal, he’ll have strict instructions to stick to a budget, I’m only guessing like.
