Helik is a decent defender at Championship level. Not world beater level. Remember he was part of one the leagues worst ever defences last season. He has under 12 months left of his contract, we are skint, & need to accumulate money in order to bring in new players in different positions, mainly a couple of strikers. Factor in all that & £1 million + isn’t that bad. People need to chill.
This cash to secure our existence could come from the owners could it not? They couldn't lie straight in bed.
They are supposed to be trying to win fans back but they let players go for next to nowt but charge us poor fans extra such as shirts.merchandise etc even putting 50p on programme which i know is franchised or something but the club should stick out to companies that want their business and try and help the natives after all without us they wouldn't exist
BFC: We want 3.5m for Helik Other clubs: Of course you do. We'll wait a while BFC: What for...? ... Other clubs: Still got Helik? BFC: Yeah, you interested? Other clubs: Signed his replacement? BFC: Yeah, brought two in? Other clubs: And you're still skint? BFC: Erm... Other clubs: We'll give you £50, some tokens for the scoreboard meter and some vouchers for discounts in our club shop BFC: Well we have been struggling with the scoreboard, and I'm sure everyone will see the value in the vouchers...
You’d think so given their apparent combined wealth. I really struggle to understand why they ever bought us in the first place.
When we're in League 2 just using academy products with 8000 core die hards funding their £300 a week wages.
I wouldn't say so. The fans are keeping the club going along with player sales whilst the culprits count their money.
Only last year our then CEO said if one of our best players were to be sold, it would involve breaking our record incoming fee, which is around £5.5 million for Alfie Mawson. It is now looking likely that 4 of our best players will soon have left, without breaking that record between them.
The summer he said that, we had no offers for any of those players. Since then, we've had our worst season in living memory. I don't think that has helped.
Thank heavens they changed the style of play last year, without that we'd probably be paying for Helik to leave. (Meant to be humorous)
I think that clubs eyeing up our saleable assets know we need the cash so drive a hard bargain. We do not apparently have the working capital to be able to push back. Our owners are not willing to risk the kind of money needed nowadays to fund a Championship club. In addition players in the final year of their contracts are wasting assets, worth nothing within 12 months. We supporters just have to suck it up. As is the norm with our club. Things are done on the cheap.
Is that the £1.2m plus add ons offer? He remains a Barnsley player for now, but he is unlikely to be with us in September.
