Frankly, it’s up to the players and especially those who aren’t white. I just hope they haven’t been bounced into it. They’ll forever have my solidarity, whether they kneel or stand.
I simply told the truth to Dragon Tyke. If I believed you were a racist, I'd tell you. You can be as aggressive as you like, but it's a waste of time if you think you can intimidate me.
My opinion hasn't changed since this began: Don't enforce it. If you want to take the knee, take the knee. If you don't, don't. And if you want to wear a poppy, wear a poppy. If you don't, don't. Then it remains meaningful, it remains personal and it remains impactful. It doesn't need a meeting of Premier League Captains to decide. How the hell have they become moral guardians? If they decide it's not to be done anymore but you still want to do it, go right ahead and do it. Forcing people to commemorate something by gestures or symbols is the sure fire way to lose meaning and impact.
Am I allowed to say I don't believe you're a racist? Am I allowed to say I believe you're the most likely poster on the BBS to have a knee-jerk reaction to nigh on everything?
I get both sides. it's about impact. Colin Kaepernick had impact, when he did what he did. then it had further impact, when everyone did it in unison. but now you're seeing it every game, some do, some don't. even black footballers stopped doing it. at that point it doesn't feel impactful and if anything might even look disjointed. so I get why it may be considered tokenistic. it also makes a mockery of any stance we take as a football club, when our main sponsor is closely linked with populist. right wing, conspiracy theorist bigots
