    Is it really so bad?
Not excusing it, but I’ve seen us play on some horrible pitches. Blackpool - where they opted for the cheapest grass seed available. Cambridge where it was deliberately turned over.

I dont see how if it has been watered and so isn't rock solid this pitch is dangerous - its just not very good. Those of us who remember the Baseball Ground in the 70's are laughing at this being deemed unplayable

I've not seen it, but it's had 65 rugby matches on it in 3 days. Mark Robins apparently told Paul Warne in the week there would be no way a game would be played on it. But for whatever reason, a pitch inspection wasn't made until the day of the game.

I could be completely wrong here, but doesn't excessive sand bring danger when sliding as it has more friction? I recall Simon Jones having his cricket career essentially ended from sliding to stop a boundary which had a heavy sand base.

Very much agree we used to play on some dreadful pitches and I can't help think we're overzealous with some protections.

The first four rounds of the FA Cup weren't worth watching unless the match was played on a quagmire. Any green in the goalmouths just spoiled things. It's no coincidence that cup attendances started falling when pitch management over the winter months improved.

Anywhere else they want to play a home game?
