Good for him to get a club and some football - I suspect he’ll get a club at a higher level next season if Wycombe don’t go up. He’s better than this level I’d say and still has several years at the top of his game left. Suspected he’d end up signing there when the Stoke move didn’t happen. It was never going to be likely he’d return up here for league one football - Wycombe is about twenty minutes from where he was brought up.
Would have been the perfect Helik replacement for us IMO but we got Cundy early doors to fill that gap and Helik is still here anyway. Shocked to see him drop to L1. Fully expected a Championship side to snap him up.
Would have loved him back but its probably a good signing for both him and Wycombe. Hope it works well for him -except when they play us of course
A Rotherham fan I know of said he was in talks with them. Apparently had a medical at Stoke that didn't go too well.
I hope his knee holds up and he rebuilds his career. Far, far too good for this level if he can stay fit, which unfortunately seems to be a massive "if".
He's not played for ten months. He's played just 22 games in the past two seasons. He's scored 1 goal in his last 100 games. He's had knee surgery three times. He's also ruptured his cruciate ligament. Imagine us trying to sign a defender who's only aged 28 but already had four serious injuries, doesn't chip in with goals and is nowhere near match fit. Of course because he did well for us many years ago people would have liked him back here. That's always the case.
Wish Alfie well on coming back from injury but it's more the lack of progress on our priority areas that is of greater concern than another centre back at this stage. Kyle Joseph gone to Oxford today and Fleetwood rumoured to be in for Cole Stockton, for example.
Shame about Joseph. Would have liked him here. Stockton no thankyou, but you are right though, I really hope we are making inroads into some of these strikers
