The next moves in terms of how the club address the fall out and, maybe, the opportunity to go out and engage with a really good sponsor give the club the chance to end up in a better light than when all this started. If things are handled well.
Hmmm. Barnsley FC awarding the front of shirt sponsor to a small concern no one has ever heard of is not news. Barnsley FC cancelling the contract of their front of shirt sponsor within a week while referring to core values is national news.
I am hoping that the further comment going forward comment will be announcing the sacking of whoever was responsible for the dealing going through. There is no excuse at all for whoever that person or people were to not having down a background check on the individuals beforehand. It shouldn't have been up to fans to do their job for them.
Dunno. Mebbi. No one else seemed to give a fk about the controversy. Didn’t seem to get any attention beyond Chron. No responses from Brent so far. We’ll see…
It took less than a week? I think the club have dealt with it brilliantly. Whether the deal should have been brokered at all is another matter, but at least they've taken swift action to rectify it.
There's only one party who have come out of this humiliated, and that's Barnsley FC and the people involved. HEX are used to the bad press, it's water off a ducks back to them.
I'm all for sacking the current CEO or him resigning but who else can step in with only 19 days left of the transfer window? It may do more harm than good him going immediately. As bad as he is.
Well done to whoever took responsibility and made this decision. Maybe in future the club should leave the Due Diligence to the fans because as a group the fan base seem to be better at finding stuff out than whoever the club employs to do it .
Very pleased that this has been resolved. All we need now is a decent ethical sponsor with a pleasing logo....
We don't know the CEO was responsible for the deal to say that. It could be anyone and whoever it is such a big deal would surely have been signed off by those at the very top, so they can take some responsibility. Whoever is responsible for the deal I see no way back for them. They have to be let go.
