As poor as the initial decision was the response has been quick and decisive so I think we have to say a well done to the club on this one.
This is obviously a somewhat biased viewpoint, given that I'm involved with them, but a lot of credit for being a catalyst in this outcome should go to the Supporters' Trust, who acted quickly to get something into the public domain on behalf of supporters ASAP whilst liaising with the club on an arms length basis to try to incorporate their response within it. I'm not sure that things would have progressed quite so quickly to a conclusion without this. The main driving force behind this at the time was @Loko the Tyke so I think it's only right that his efforts are acknowledged in this. The motivations and actions of BFCST have been questioned on numerous occasions in recent months, but this saga is a good example of the value of some of the work it does behind the scenes, and of the working relationships it has built with key people within the club (similarly for other supporters groups who attend the various liaison meetings, so this is not intended as criticism of them). Far from being 'in cahoots with' or 'a mouthpiece for' those running the club, these relationships are important in being able to constructively challenge the club in a meaningful way, rather than being simply a protest group that's shouting from the outside but achieving little. On this occasion, my personal view is that it has made a difference in reaching this stage as quickly as we have.
The shirts from the two games we played with them on our shirts should be auctioned off to raise money for Barnsley food bank. Something positive should come out of those shirts as collectors items.
If it was a one off isolated incident I would 100% agree with you, unfortunately, it isn't. I would be extremely disappointed and concerned if we just moved on with the same individuals responsible for this still involved. We were all calling for Conway's removal from hands on operations and quite rightly, this should be the same. Certain people need moving on.
I haven't seen @Cod Eye post since he announced the launch and took my money. Rumours he's out in Barbados at the moment...
Well done BFC, correct course of action. But I’d love to know who did (or didn’t do …) the due diligence on this before it was agreed
Just seen the item on BBC Sport and we come out of it as well as was possible. Nice quotes from the club and the Rainbow Reds,an acknowledgement of mistakes made and trying to put that right. I suspect that both Hex and the club will want to move on quickly and it to be forgotten about.
