Mixture between decent players and national league and below players don't help. This board got us here. So it's their duty to bring us back. Not signing white. Also I despise playing without wingers. No excitement. Just slow build up and nothing to get us off our feet. Beginning to think the board love wing backs too as they bring managers who only okay with them
The epitome of the phrase 'A Game Of Two Halves' for me. I thought we deserved a point in the game, but sadly you don't always get what you deserve. Benson beginning to show why Duff has faith in him.
I fully expected us to struggle early doors, particularly away from home. I honestly dont feel too downhearted tonight. We’ve lost two one at derby, with both goals poor and error strewn which you’d hope can be learned from - and we know nothing new regarding the need for centre forwards. It’s not all doom and gloom. My only fear is buying ourselves out of the Hex deal might have blown any budget we had to get some! We won’t get anyone in until near the end of the window and likely only as and when we sell one or both of Helik and styles - assuming someone will buy an injured centre back and a busted flush of a left back/centre mid… This squad even as it stands wouldn’t be relegated in my view. Bottom half maybe yeah but still. I think we’d get through enough games against more limited opposition to keep our chins well above water. I do expect us to add to the squad though. Aitchison and Marsh aren’t the answer, we knew Cole wasn’t. Norwood isn’t exactly a worldy but he’s a pain in the arse and doesn’t give centre backs a second so get anything decent up with him and we’ll be ok. Look at that chance he created from nothing today chasing down scraps - only for Aitchison to not bother being a centre forward. I can see us getting better and as bad as we are now we are a lot better than the Parkin/Hodges team. Not twitching yet.
Marsh as not got much pace to be honest . Quite a few in the west stand mentioned it last week . He’s young so that’s something he can improve. In my opinion this season as not got going yet for us . I’m not a fan off the defence . People keep mentioning that we look strong at the back . Well Plymouth tore us apart and should have had at least 4 and Collins kept us in it . I thought Cheltenham got through quite a few times particularly down the left and again Collins pulled a few good saves off . We didn’t look like scoring until Thomas conjured up some magic. We deserved the win but it was not a commanding performance . We looked short up top against boro on Wednesday and some good saves from Walton and some bad misses from them got us through with a last minute goal . It’s early but it’s not too promising and probably a 3/4 out of ten from Len
Unfortunately marsh ain't blessed with pace. The gaffer spoke wisely in the chronicle....we need two strikers and a right wing back. Imho our midfield is ok ish...good 2nd half today...but we were oldmanned by better more experienced players...that's what you pay for...we have what we have, I'm confident duff will get the best out of what we have.
It's quite odd really that most folk I spoke to thought that defence was one area in which we would be looking strong this season. It's looking like we are short in all positions now.. Worrying as JAQ only mentioned 4 players were being looked at.
You must have watched a different side today then and the other matches throughout the season and pre season. Not a glimmer of anything but crappy sideways and backwards passing until they come under pressure to either lose the ball or fire it up field for the opposition to gain possession. Come January we'll now we've again got a duff manager out of his depth in league 1.
On the defence imho I thought Anderson looked good today...prior to this (and I appreciate we are 3 games in) he looked like he needed to quicken up and apply himself to this division. Williams has good pace but lacks conviction and kitchen just needs to improve
One of the worst "homer" referees I've ever seen. Edit, talking to some Dorby fans on the way to the car, they agreed about the ref. All said we deserved a point. Kudos to the travelling support, made plenty of noise, particularly in the 2nd half.
